The Game of Love

Chapter Twenty-Nine

It has been two days since Kelsey had to have an emergency C-section and right now the baby is barely making it. They had to put the baby on a ventilator in order for it to breathed. Turns out the baby ended up being a baby girl; I wish Kelsey was awake to see her she would love her. After the C-section something went wrong and Kelsey slipped into a coma.

I have been by her side for the past two days talking to her as if she can hear me. Kameron keeps telling me everything will be okay but I have a feeling deep down that it won’t. “I’m back,” Kameron announced walking through the door. “You bought food,” I asked looking at the fast food bags in his hands. “Yea, since you refuse to leave Kelsey’s side I figured I better feed you.” I knew he didn’t approve of me staying here since it meant I barely got any sleep and caused a lot of stress. When I told him I wasn’t leaving Kelsey’s side we got into a huge fight. He even went as far as to try and demand me to leave but when he saw that wasn’t going to work he caved and said okay. The only thing is I have to agree to eat and sleep or he will go all ape on me.  “Look I know you don’t like me staying here every night but I can’t just leave my best friend here alone,” I said walking up to him to where we were chest to chest. “I feel like if I leave her she will wake up and will be all alone. I know she would do the same for me,” I said playing with the buttons on his shirt. “And I get that but I miss my bed and we haven’t had sex in almost three days. I mean damn you can’t just give me a taste of paradise and then make me wait forever to have it again,” he said pouting which caused me to laugh. I loved when he acted his age not like some old business man looking out for his life. Now that I think about it he hasn’t been to the trap in a while.

“Why haven’t you been to the trap?”

“Wat you mean?”

“You usually go to the trap every day to make sure things are going to plan but you haven’t been in almost a month, why?” He instantly tensed up as if he was hiding something and all I could think of was not him too. “Don’t keep this from me, you can tell me anything,” I said caressing his jawline which now had a start of a beard. “I enrolled into culinary school,” he said closing his as if embracing his self. When he finally opened them all he saw was the huge smile I wore. “When?”

“Three months ago.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“I wanted to surprise you and I also didn’t want to get your hopes up and then I ended up failing. I just really wanted to make an honest life for us where we wouldn’t have to look over our shoulder to see if we would be shot dead. And I can’t go through someone else taking you that shit almost killed me.”

“I love you,” was all I could say in response. I never would have guessed that Kameron would even consider leaving the game and here he was doing it for me. He bent down and lightly pecked me on my lips and quickly rose to us fighting for dominance which he won. He griped my waist and pushed me towards the wall. Once we couldn’t move any more he moved to planting kisses along neck which caused me to moan out loud. We were so caught up in our world we forgot where we were until we heard someone clear their throat. Kameron quickly let me go and turned around to reveal Doctor Barnes. “Dr. Barnes,” I said trying to get myself together. He stepped in with a sad look written on his face. “What’s wrong?”

He stood a moment and then spoke, “Within the last 24 hours the baby’s heartbeat began to decrease rapidly. We increased the amount of oxygen she got into her lungs but that didn’t work. Her lungs weren’t developed enough and they collapsed causing her to not to be able to receive any oxygen. I’m so sorry.” Just like that a fun spontaneous moment turned sad and very much depressing. Kelsey never even got to hold her daughter and now she is dead. I couldn’t understand why this was happening to us to her. I still can’t figure out how she even got put in the hospital in the first place. When I overheard Dee talking to Kelsey I automatically assumed he was the one that did this and went off.
