Dinner time was so awkward considering everything that happened before. I was sitting across from Kameron who was staring a hole into my face. It was kind of freaking me out, the whole time he didn’t say anything just sat there. Meanwhile, my grandma was drilling Dee’s new girlfriend about her intentions. Even though, she didn’t agree Dee’s life style she still didn’t want anyone taking advantage of him or his money. Me, I just sat there in my own thoughts barely eating and just listening to the conversation. I wasn’t really interested in any of it until grandma asked Kameron, “So Kameron baby, Dee got himself a girl here, where’s yours.” Now they had my full attention and Kameron was the first to notice.

Kameron POV

So the whole time Ariel just looked at her plate trying to dodge all eye contact with me. It’s like she knew I was staring and want to look up but all I wanted to know was why she was so upset earlier. I could tell her mind was somewhere else and I was wondering where. But then she came back to life from Ms. Kat’s question. At first I didn’t know how to answer but then I thought of the perfect way, “Well, Ms. Kat I’ve had my eye on this girl for a minute,” I said leaning back in my chair.

“Oh really, now see I thought yo eye looked at many girls but you didn’t really give them a full minute,” she said sarcastically. I knew I was known for being ‘girl friendly’ but that didn’t change who I wanted. “You know what you’re right.” I said leaning back up to the table and looked straight at Ariel. “But if I could get this girl, I feel like she could be my one and only.”

“And how in the hell you figure that? Boy you only eighteen and you think just because you got money coming in, you know what’s right. All I can tell you is be careful who you deal with AND sleep with.”

“Yes mam, I will no doubt.” She stood up and started collecting the dishes, “Hey Dee and your girl come help wit these dishes yall done made,” she said walking to the kitchen. They both got up and left leaving only me and Ariel.

Man the silence was killing me; she just sat there dodging anything that led to me. “Um, I was thinking…”

“Sorry I gotta a lot of homework to do you know,” she said cutting me off and getting up to go upstairs. I couldn’t let her do that so I went and grabbed her. “Let go of me Kameron!”

“Not until you tell me why you’ve been avoiding me.”

“I haven’t been avoiding you Kameron, I just don’t want to talk to you anymore.” Okay I was confused as hell cause I didn’t what I had did to make her feel this way. “And why is that? Last time I checked everything was cool between you and me so what’s up now.”

“You wouldn’t understand Kameron so just drop it. Go talk to one of your many girls you have at your disposal.”

“What the hell my many girls got to do with you!” Now I was pissed because if she put me out her room over some BS like that then shit was uncalled for.” Wateva Kameron,” is all she said before getting loose and walking upstairs.

Ariel POV

To be honest I wasn’t really mad at Kameron, but at someone else. The only reason I didn’t want to talk to Kameron is because I didn’t want to get any close to him to only be heart broken when he rejected me. To him I was probably like his little sister, I hated that.

I was sitting on my bed with the door closed watching TV when I heard a knock. I didn’t say anything and after a while I thought they left until my door opened and Kameron walked in, I really need to get a lock. He didn’t say anything for a while; just stared at an old episode of family guy, him standing in the corner and me still on the bed. The scene with Peter fighting the chicken came on and he decided to talk. “We need to talk.” I took a minute before looking at him, “talk then.”

“You really pissing me off Ariel. Now get your attitude together before I fix it for you.” This nigga must really be confused if he think I’m scared of him. “Am I supposed to be scared of you or what? Cause last time I checked I wasn’t.”

“Hell yea, you supposed to be scared.”

“Good bye Kameron,” was all I said before turning back to look to the TV. He stood there for a while before turning to leave. When he shut the door tears flowed down my face at a rapid pace, leaving me sobbing uncontrollably. I was so wrapped up in my emotions I didn’t see anyone come I, not until I felt that burning force drilling a hole in my face. I didn’t dare look up to confront him, knowing he probably thought I was pathetic. He stayed there for a few seconds and then moved closer to where he was standing right beside me. At this point I was confused and then he took off his shoes followed by his shirt revealing what I had only been able to day dream about, “What are you doing?” But instead of answering he got in the bed, pulled me close to him to where I could inhale his scent, and proceeded to watch TV like everything was normal.
