I woke up all through the night thinking about what Kameron had said. True I wanted give him a chance but I was afraid he would just hurt me. I turned and looked at him as he was sleeping and saw the innocence he had. Another thing that concerned me about giving him a chance was the gang life, I wanted no part of it. Hell, I had made up my mind to officially move into my apartment just get away from it all, I wonder how Kameron will feel about this. I could imagine me and him together like it was nothing, but did I want to take the chance. Then my grandmother’s words popped into my mind. I had to give him a chance not because he deserved one but because I did. I moved in closer to him and on instant he tightened his grip around me. I was happy.
The morning came and Kameron was gone. I was kind of sad because I missed his warmth. My thoughts were interrupted when the door opened and he came strolling in. “You’re awake.”
“Where were you?”
“Well, I went to get me some clothes before you woke and then I picked up breakfast,” he said holding up the box of doughnuts. “What kind?”
“Crème filled of across,” he said all royal like and handing me one. “Always taking care of me.”
“You know it,” he said winking. “Guess wat?”
“Wat?”
“I talked to the doctor and she said you can get out today, only if you want though.” I immediately jumped up dropping my doughnut. “Are you serious!”
“Only if you want though.”
“Yesss I want to! I thought I was going to be in here forever.” He began to laugh and stood up. “That’s why I knew you would need these,” he said lifting up my clothes. “I see our patient here as heard the good news,” the doctor said coming in. “I thought you said I had to wait two days before I could get out?”
“Well, you seem to be recovering well and have no major inflictions, so I think you are good to go,” she said unhooking me from the machines. Soon as I was free I leaped out of the bed. “Free at last, free at last, thank God almighty I’m free at last!” they laughed at me like I was going crazy but being hooked up to machines trapped in a bed for two weeks really sucks. “Alright then Ms. Langston, you still need to take it easy no major movements.”
“I promise.” She left out and as soon as she did I jumped on Kameron hugging him tight. “What I do to get a hug like this?”
“Thank you for being there for me,” I said looking him in the eyes. “Baby girl where else would I be, you know I got you.”
“Yes.” He looked up at me confused. “Yes what?”
“Yes I will give a chance,” his whole face changed from tense to a great big smile. His whole face lit up bright showing his true complexion. “You serious?” I shook my head, “Yes.” He grabbed me by waist and crashed his lips to mine. he lifted me up and placed me against the wall which caused me to gasp. He invaded my mouth with his tongue and dominated me and my mouth. I moaned which caused him to tighten his grip. I moved my hands to his hair and pulled lightly on the well cut stubs he had. He groaned and moved his hands to my ass and pinched it. I loved this feeling and never wanted him to release me. However, the door opened which caused us to both stop. We looked over to the door and a nurse stood at the door, “S-sorry to interrupt but I-I had to leave your paperwork.” She quickly left leaving the only sound of us panting hard trying to catch our breathe. He slowly put me down glaring at me like I had done something. “I should get dressed.” I squeezed by him and went to the bathroom.
We soon arrived back at Kameron’s and the whole way I been trying to figure out a way to tell him I wanted to move out. I figured if I don’t do it now then I never will. “Kameron I have to tell you something,” I said as we walked into the living room. “What’s up baby girl,” he said popping down on the couch. I remained standing, “I want to move out,” I said just above a whisper. “You want to what,” he was now standing up. “I thought you said you were giving us a chance.”
“And I am.”
“Then why the hell do you want to move out?”
“I tried to kill a child Kameron. An innocent little boy that ended up dead anyway because I went and threatened to kill him. I literally held a gun to that boy’s head, do you know how dark I must have went to do that. I have to get away from this life, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to be with you. I just think us will work better if I have place away from the gang life where I can try to be normal.” He stared at me as if processing what I had said. I didn’t know what to do, the minutes seemed to just fly by as I waited for him to say something. “If you are serious then you have to let me buy the place, let me take care of you.” I wanted to argue but I knew this was his way of keeping me close and him in control. “Fine.”
All day Kameron has dragged me from place to place to find the perfect one. We finally found it, it’s a two story condo that overlooks the Miami. I Iove it. I have two bedrooms, two baths, a spacious living room, and a wide kitchen. The walls were painted turquoise in the main bedroom and bathrooms. In the guest bedroom the walls were painted dark purple, but when you went downstairs the living room and kitchen was painted all white with a hint of gold accent. This was my dream place. “So you happy with this,” Kameron asked giving me the key. “Yes I love it,” I said kissing his lips. When I looked up he had this big ass grin on his face. “Why you smiling like that?”
“Cause I finally got you.”
“Yep, now let’s see if you can keep me,” I said wrapping my arms around his neck. “Baby girl you ain’t going nowhere, trust me.” he said leaning down and kissing my lips. “Okay, so you settled in, right.” I nodded looking around at the furniture he bought to go in the place. The more I got to thinking, I started thinking about Kelsey. I missed her in my life and I needed to go talk to her. “What,” he said noticing my face. “I miss Kelsey.”
“O really,” he asked sarcastically. “Yea, I think overreacted when I found about her and Dee. I need to go make things right her.”
“You sure?”
“Yea, she is best friend and considering all that has happened I think I need to make amends with the people I love.”
“Alright then I will be here when you get back,” he said plotting down on the couch and grabbing the remote. “You staying?”
“Hell yea, you think Imma let you spend yo first night in yo new place alone?” I shook my head and left out the door. I took Kameron car since he wouldn’t be needing it and arrived at Kelsey’s place in twenty minutes. When I knocked on the door of her apartment I instantly got nervous. I haven’t seen Kelsey in a long time, so I didn’t know what to expect. She opened the door and stopped in her tracks. “Hey.”
“H-Hey. What are you doing here, Dee isn’t here.”
“I came to see you.”
“You did?”
“Yea, can we talk.” She nodded and stepped aside for me to come in. I walked to the living room and sat down and waited for her. “I know I have been overreacting and I’m here to apologize to you. I shouldn’t have acted that way when I found about you and my brother.” I thought she would gloating that I had apologized but she looked like something was wrong. “What’s wrong Kelsey,” I asked standing up. Before she could reply she burst in tears and pulled me into a hug. “He doesn’t love me,” she said in between sobs. “What are you talking about?”
“Dee has been cheating on me. Ever since his grandmother died he has changed and became distant. I found out two weeks ago ha has been sneaking around cheating on me with any hoe he can find. To make it worse one of them says they are pregnant by him.” Damn. I pulled her closer and held her tighter. “It’s going to be okay I’m here now,” I said petting her hair. “No, it’s not I found I’m one month pregnant too.”
