Perhaps it was the fact that Miller knew where she lived that had shocked her the most because, when she saw a blond boy having tea with grandmonster and Joy, it didn't have the surprising effect it could've had. She was going to walk straight upstairs (thanks Heaven that she had them right before the front door) but a voice stopped her.
"Robin, aren't you going to greet your friend?" Grandmonster said. Robin turned around with a big frown. Joy was grinning to the blond boy.
The blond moron!
"Hi, Robin!" He grinned to her and stood up as she walked to them. "I'm Shane Teaser, remember me?"
"Uh..." Robin just told herself not to try to understand the situation and accept it. "Yes! Hi."
There was a dead silence. Apparently, he was waiting for her to sit down. After a nasty glare from grandmonster, she sat beside him and Joy poured tea in her empty teacup.
"Shane was telling us how unfair it was that you were sent to detention." Grandmonster said with a sugary voice.
"Oh, really?" Robin asked with a drawl, trying to figure out a way to kick him out without being rude. "Cool. Em, what... what brought you to my house, Shane?"
"I was worried about you," He said turning red and picked a bag from the floor. "And I brought you homework since you haven't gone these days. Oh, and these..." He paused, handing her a box with a pink envelope. Robin turned red. A gift from him? "You better want to check that later," he muttered.
Too much, she thought.
"Thanks, Shane." Robin seriously wondered why grandmonster and Joy had those stupid expressions in their faces when they looked at him. He was in the M-RI after all, just like her. "You know... I had a very exhausting day, and I just have two days to do all this homework. Would you mind if I just went upstairs and...?"
She sensed how grandmonster and Joy murdered her with one look.
"Oh, no, it's alright!" Shane at once stood up and picked up his jacket. "I was just waiting for you. I'll see you on Monday, right?"
"My suspension's till next Wednesday."
"Ah, I see. Alright, then." Shane looked at the other two. "Thanks for your hospitality. I might come back to try more of your cookies, Mrs. Christine."
Mrs. Christine? Huh?
"Oh, of course, sweetie, no problem, you're very welcome, even when Robin's out."
Oh, please.
"I'll see you on Monday, Joy."
"Sure! There we can keep talking about you know what." She winked an eye to him. Robin rolled her eyes, hardly noticing she had already opened the door for him to leave. Shane gave one last glance to her and nodded outside. Ugh. Robin went outside with him.
"Your family is really cool." He said eager. "I bet you never get bored in here."
"They're wonderful. Well, thanks again, Shane. By the way... how did you find my house?"
Was her house address public to the world or what?
"I asked Mr. Keller so I could bring you the schoolwork. Hold on," He texted something with his mobile and saved it in his pocket. "They'll pick me up now."
"Okay."
"How is your grandpa doing?" He was careful with the tone of his voice in that question. Robin looked away.
"He'll be fine, though he hasn't... he's still in comma, you know. But he'll be fine."
"I bet it's very difficult for you. Your family seems to take it more lightly, though." He frowned, confused. "If there's anything I can do, let me know."
