They were playing voleyball during the gym classes when she heard the news from a classmate. Apparently, her identity hadn't been given away, but the multimillonaires Frederick Cohen and Elliot King, along one of his workers, had been the heroes of the night. Maddie, Honey and Belly, another student that had joined Robin's small group of friends, were discussing the subject as they walked out of Roslow. There was a bar they had never visited across the street called Hugo's which seemed to be the favorite of everyone at school.
"Do you think this is true?" Maddie asked with negativism, shaking the newspaper. "Them?! Heroes?! Ha-ha-ha! They were probably the ones who attacked the girl!"
Robin thought the blue sky that day was more beautiful than ever.
"I don't think so..." Belly said, grabbing the newspaper. "Hey, now that I see them better... aren't they good looking?"
Had girls in the GRI been all models? They were as striking as Joy. Robin wondered if boys from the BRI dated girls from the GRI, all pretty, like in movies.
The other three turned their heads abruptly to the newcomer. Dark-skinned Belly shrugged.
"Seriously, Belly?" Maddie growled and shook her head. Honey half smiled.
"They are good looking." She recognized, shaking her curls with several nods. "But they stink in personality."
They entered the bar. It had a delicious smell of fresh mint. It was big and almost had no walls, replaced with crystal windows. The light of the exterior penetrated each corner of the place. Simply amazing. And the lunch seemed quite cheap. Robin thought it wasn't such a bad place.
"I'm just saying I wouldn't mind being saved by someone like them," Belly said as they ate their sandwiches and she held the newspaper.
"What are you going to ask?" Honey asked Robin. Glad she could now begin to pay attention to them, Robin shrugged.
"Burger, maybe? I'm starving."
With a frown, Belly pulled the newspaper aside and stared at Robin.
"Robin... your bag looks a lot like this one..."
She had been expecting something of the sort, like "Robin, that's a new M-RI sweater that you're wearing today, isn't it?".
"It d-does?" The girl raised her eyebrows with evident surprise. "Well, they're really popular, aren't they?"
Maddie narrowed her eyes.
"Now that you mention it... those look like your shoes..." Honey said, looking at picture where Elliot King covered someone with his body and his coat. Her legs were easily seen. Robin, with two striking flashbacks on her mind, dropped the menu. "Wait... if this is Elliot, then... what...?"
She got a huge piece of bread inside her mouth.
"Awy - gap- choo - gow!" Robin, with her mouth full, clumsily got up of the table. "O-wwy!"
"Robin!" Honey called her. "Hey!"
"Bye!" The girl ran out of the bar and entered Roslow across the street.
They didn't know. They didn't have to know the size of the damage she had inside. And she forced herself to recover from it. It wouldn't stop her from living. She wouldn't bring it to mind on purpose. Never again.
Not that she was relieved, she'd still have to face her friends the rest of the afternoon. But even so, she searched for a place to go and get distracted.
