"Hello? Anyone there?"
I blinked. Then blinked again before registering Carnel's hand waving Infront of my face like a damn fan at a Shawn Mendes concert.
"sorry, did you say something" I tried to reply innocently. I looked around the room once, somehow, I managed to get out of the shower and get dressed before standing Infront of our floor to roof mirror in a daydream.... I didn't remember anything. It reminded me of the times back on earth when I would drive home from school and pull into the driveway with absolutely no reciliation of how I got there; if I had even stopped at red lights.
Carnel's lips twitched slightly at the corners before he dropped his hands and replaced them on my hip as he came behind me, turning me to the mirror once more. I was dressed in a new dress, one that hugged my figure tight enough that my every curve was on display and it was a green so dark that if you didn't look at it carefully enough, one could mistake it for black entirely. It was a drastic difference than the beautiful gown I wore to the high lords meeting, not that this particular dress isn't striking to the eye either.
"I asked princess, how you were holding up, but I think I have a general idea now"
I let out a little breath and rolled my eyes, placing my hands on top of his where they still rested on my hips and looked at his eyes through the mirror. His head had come to rest on one of my shoulders and his wings formed a great wall of black behind us. And with Carnel dressed in his new set of Illyrian leathers particularly made for this event.... Well, we looked like one of those pictures from books parents read to their kids at night about monsters that will eat them if they don't go to bed and listen to their mothers.
A beautiful couple of course is what I meant.
"I'm fine. I told you that already this morning. You don't have to baby me Carnel. In fact, I like it better when we're you're being a complete ass hole as always, so I don't have to deal with your Illyrian protectiveness."
Carnel looked up slowly from where he was placing a kiss to the crook of my neck. He met my eyes halfway and the sight was eerie. He leaned in slightly until the barest hint of his mouth touched to edge of my ear.
"You don't seem to have a problem with my Illyrian protectiveness when I make you scream my name at all hours of the night."
I spun around quickly to face him, his hands falling off my hips as I smacked him softly on his bicep.
"Carnel Albertine!" I shrieked slightly.
His smirk was absolutely feral. "Yes Luna Albertine?"
I froze. gosh he was so darn cute when he says my name like that. And I know he does it on purpose too. I made a face of frustration and let out a little "humph" before stepping out of his embrace completely and walking over to my vanity to put the finishing touches in my hair I had also somehow started. His laugh trailed behind me.
"I win" his voice called out behind me. I rolled my eyes again as I picked up a hair pin and stuck it in my head, pinning back a loose strand.
"Soon enough you're going to have to find a new way Carnel, that trick is getting real old really quickly."
"seems to be working just fine if you ask me"
I rolled my eyes again for the I don't know how many times in the past minute alone.
I picked up a small makeup brush and softly painted my eye lids with some koal Mor lent me for tonight, watching Carnel place knife after knife in his leathers behind me in the mirror as I did.
