Chapter 28: Separate Time

Oishi and Tezuka were at the library. "Oishi. I have two requests," Tezuka said. They both sat at a table. "First, I want you to be the captain," Tezuka said. "Me? Be the captain?" Oishi said. "Yes. Will you take the position?" Tezuka asked Oishi. They stared at each other. "Sorry, I refuse," he said. "You're the only one that can be our captain, Tezuka. We're in the middle of the Kantou tournament...and after that is the Nationals. No matter what happens in that time, our captain is you," Oishi said. "Therefore..." Tezuka said. "That's it...Being captain is impossible. But until you come back, Tezuka, I'll be the temporary captain," Oishi said. "Oishi," Tezuka said.

"What is the second request?" Oishi asked. "I I need you and the other regulars to look after Miyu when I'm gone. She need alot of care. Makes sure that her health keeps improving," Tezuka said. "Alright. I understand" Oishi said. Tezuka stood up and walked out of the library to notify Ryuzaki-sensei.

Miyu's point of view...

Kunimitsu had his jersey on and his racket in his arm. He wanted to play in the courts for the last time. I understood. Fuji agreed to play with Kunimitsu. He was using his right hand. He was doing well. It was late in the afternoon. We all lined up. "Captain Tezuka is going to take leave to treat his injury. In his stead, I'll be the substitute captain. Tezuka," he said. "Win the Kantou tournament...and work hard with Oishi...keeping the Nationals in mind. I wish you all luck. Today's practice ends here. That is all," Kunimitsu said."Yes," everyone said.

Kunimitsu asked Echizen to go on the court. They played a match. Kunimitsu was able to do a Tezuka zone. Soon, the match ended. Kunimitsu won the match. He was able to do his signature drop shot. It was a great match.

Next day...

I was at the airport with Ryuzaki-sensei and Oishi to see Kunimitsu off. Oishi and Ryuzaki-sensei said their goodbyes and left us alone. I walked up to him and hugged him. "Come back well," I said. "I will come back. Don't worry," he said. We pulled apart and he pulled out a box. He opened the box for me and it had a ring ring in it. "Its beautiful," I said. He took my hand and slid it onto my finger. "Its a promise ring," he said. I nodded my head. I took a bracelet out of my pocket and tighten it onto his wrist. "Its for you to remember me," I said. He nodded his head.

Ping...Gate to Frankfurt is now open....

He leaned down and kissed me on the lips. It was soft and gentle. We pulled apart. "Goodbye Kunimitsu. I love you," I said softly. "I love you too," he said. He grabbed his bags and headed to the gate.
