(Minki's POV)

I stared out the window, slowly chewing on some noodles, some hanging from my lips as I listened to what was left of the birds around the house.

Nothing had been happening lately, which I was extremely thankful for.

The ceremony went well, everyone had mourned just as we had for Johnny and Mark.

I looked out to the six crosses.

I should go talk to them today..I thought, finishing my food and washing my dish before heading out.

I stopped every once in a while to pick some flowers for everyone before reaching them and placing the flowers down.

"Hey guys.."

----+----

It had been a few hours.

I had shared everything with our boys, telling them all the little things.

When I heard it.

Screams for help and fast footsteps approaching the house.

I shot up, grabbing the bat that I carried around everywhere before climbing the ladder beside the fence, seeing a small group of boys running away from a large group of infected.

My eyes widened and yelled for the boys in the house, them all coming out with weapons as I quickly swung the gate open, running out to the boys and grabbing some of their wrists before running towards the house, my body running fully off adrenaline as I heard the groans and growls behind me.

We finally got into the gate and the boys slammed it shut behind us with some difficulty.

----+----

I let out heavy and labored breaths, staring at the gate that had stopped moving as soon as the infected didn't see us anymore.

I carefully placed my finger on my lip and motioned the boys to get in the house quickly and quietly.

They did as told and we scurried away, the new boys following us as well.

I collapsed on the couch as soon as we got in, staring off into nothingness.

"They're...in our woods now. It's gonna be a lot harder to get supplies...maybe the back gate would be okay to go through.." I mumbled into the air, jumping when hands landed on my shoulders.

"Minki. Breathe. It's gonna be okay, we'll figure it out. For now, let's figure out who these boys are, okay?" Taeyong whispered soothingly to me, rubbing his hands up and down my arms.

I nodded, looking up to the five boys standing front of us. "Who are you guys?"

What seemed to be the leader of their little gang stepped forwards. "Uhm...my name is Sungjin..this is Jaehyung, Younghyun, Wonpil and Dowoon.." He said.

I nodded softly, standing up myself and walking forwards, my eyes blank and tired. "What were you doing in the woods? And where did that hoard come from?" The male infront of me gulped. "We were camping out, hoping that maybe they wouldn't come in, but, then these guys...I don't even know who they were...came running. One of them was bit, and there was a giant hoard behind them, they didn't make it, but we had to start running or we would be the same..." I nodded softly, patting his shoulder.

"You're more than welcome to stay here. Just make sure you follow our rules and don't pick fights." They nodded in understanding and I nodded slightly, looking down at the floor before looking back up at my boys.

"Well boys, go ahead, introduce yourselves, we're gonna be together for a while so we might as well get comfortable."

Jaehyung grabbed my wrist as I started to walk away. "Wait, you never told us your name." I looked down at his hand then at him before letting out a quiet hum. "I suppose I didn't. My name's Minki." He nodded, just staring at me and not letting me go.

Yuta and Taeyong came up on either side of me. Yuta grabbed Jaehyung's wrist, smiling sweetly with a malice I couldn't see from where I was. "My name's Yuta, and he's Taeyong. It's a pleasure." I pulled my arm away from both of them, checking my watch.

"I'll go make some dinner. I suppose they can't sleep in the boys old rooms." Chenle looked at me sadly. I smiled softly at him, stroking his hair. "Don't worry, no one's gonna be replacing either of them, they're temporary while these boys stay with us." He nodded softly, taking my hand and following me into the kitchen.

(Taeyong's POV)

As soon as Minki was out of earshot my eyes went dark.

I stared at the boys infront of me, tapping my foot on the ground. "What are you doing here." Sungjin sighed. "We weren't lying Taeyong, we didn't know you were out here, we'll leave as soon as we can but Young K, Dowoon, and Jae are injured. They need to heal." I let out an aggravated sigh before nodding.

I glared over my shoulder, ready to go and help Minki in the kitchen. I looked straight through Jae's soul. "Don't touch Minki or get any ideas." He seemed taken aback before glaring back. "He doesn't belong to you Taeyong. And he doesn't belong to Yuta either. You can't claim him like that."

I felt a smirk grow on my face as I walked away. "Oh? Is that so? Well. I suppose we'll just have to see."

I then entered the kitchen, seeing Chenle sitting on the counter with Minki between his legs.

Chenle's shoulders were shaking with sobs as Minki held him close, gently comforting him.

Minki opened his eyes and saw me. He gently gestured me away with his hand, telling me that they wanted to be alone. I nodded and instead went out to the porch, finding Yuta there.

I took my place beside him.

"So you like Minki too." He stated, his voice blank. I nodded. He hummed, leaning forward on his elbows, staring at the crosses.

He stood straight again before nodding. "Then may the best man win the prize."

As he walked away he made sure to hit my shoulder with his own. I heard the door slam behind him as he went inside the house.

I let out a sigh. How bothersome. I hoped I wouldn't have any competition.
