The sun creaked through the blinds of the twins bedroom. Ellie's alarm went off which caused them all to sleepily groan in a defeat as Millie sat up in her bed and looked over at Jill who was still peacefully asleep. Millie gently nudged Jill who ended up sitting up right next to her with a groan escaping her lips. "I got breakfast duty, goose, you need to leave." Millie laughed as she went over to her closet and gently flipped on the light to show all of her clothes that were neatly hung.
Her eyes opened to see the familiar band posters she helped the boy hang up so many years ago and gently nudged Finns side which caused him to groan then look over at her. "Five more minutes sadie!" Sadie scoffed as she gently whacked Finn with a pillow and got up. "Get your butt up, we don't have five minutes to spare. I can even hear Lilia impatiently waiting downstairs so let's move wolfhard!" Sadie said with a sarcastic little huff before going into Lilia's room and looked around.
Lilia has always made sure Sadie had an outfit if she managed to forget her clothes at home. So today, Lilias planned outfit for Sadie was a light blue dress with little flowers on it, some freshly packaged fishnets, a cardigan and Sadie's locket that she'd taken off the redhead the night prior so she didn't get harmed in her sleep. The blonde and redhead have always been closer than other people thought. When the girl spends so much time with Finn, she has to get away sometime and talk to someone else her own age. Lilia was her caretaker and she was her teenage daughter from the very start of their friendship.
Sadie quickly changed and threw her bright hair into a messy bun just so it was out of her face for the day ahead of them. "FINN MICHAEL WOLFHARD MOVE YOUR ASS!" Sadie slightly shouted from the bottom of the steps with her bag draped onto her shoulder as Lilia bit back a laugh that was almost daring to slip from her lips. "I'm so glad that your here to help me get the lanky boy downstairs because oh gosh it's a struggle" Lilia laughed as Finn made his way out of his room and the pair of girls both cheered from the bottom of the stairs while he flipped them off.
Laughter consumed the house, Louis and Jill were playing off of each other's chaos while the twins did the same yet it caused everyone to giggle. Ava gently nudged Madi who was confused for a moment before looking at the clock and almost choked on her cereal before looking at the others. "Guys! You got to go, now!" Madi almost shouted which caused the others to jump and look at the clock to see what she meant before they started scrambling themselves. "If all else fails, I can call Lilia to see if Finn can come grab us this morning" Jill rushed out as they all shoved everything they needed for school into their bags.
During the trip to school, they were all on edge. How could they have been so mindless of the time? It wasn't like them at all but she absolutely hoped no one else around her could hear the loud and continuous pounding of her heart. Millie was freaking out and she didn't know why. She tapped her fingers together as an attempt to calm down, she couldn't remember the last time she felt this amount of overwhelming nerves that creeped through her.
The girl with her vibrant hair practically leaped out of the car once Finn parked it and took one last look at her watch to make sure that they were still on time even if they were running a bit late. Sadie ran up to the front door and luckily for her, she saw Gaten, Caleb, Millie and Louis walking up towards her. "Mush!" Sadie smiled as she pulled the short brunette into her arms and kissed her forehead before looking at Gaten and Caleb who shared the same expression.
Caleb and Gaten nudged each other while Louis stood in between the two boys as an attempt to get them to stop. "This is why my best friends are girls.. no offense to other boys, booger, ellie and goofball are fun." Louis huffed as the two boys looked at him in absolute shock which caused Millie to giggle and shake her head. "Yeah, Louis is an English boy. The english gals got him as our sidekick. Oh! Gaten, Caleb, that's Goose aka Louis" Millie giggled as she nuzzled up against Sadie just absorbing her scent and listened to her heartbeat.
The boys looked at each other before busting out laughing and shook Louis' hand who was smiling at them. Sadie rubbed Millie's back as she furrowed her eyebrows while Millie thought for a moment before it finally hit her which seemed to be the same moment that Sadie remembered as well. "Ah shit! Well, if you tell anyone this boys you guys are dead. Millie is my girlfriend." Sadie smiled as Millie sleepily gave a thumbs up and stuffed her head into the croak of her neck with a tiny huff escaping her lips.
A moment of silence passed before Gaten giggled which caused Caleb to hit his shoulder out of slight fear with annoyance more coating his fear. "What?! They aren't that sneaky also you forget that I spent an evening with Millie and her family. It was quite nice actually. The pictures where also funny. Don't give Millie a fake mustache!" Gaten lightly teased as Millie looked up at Sadie with a pout and moved closer to her. "Hey losers! We all need to get to class before the lunch lady bus monitors yell at us!" They heard Jill yell from a bit of a distance but regardless, Millie laughed. "You got it booger!"
The first half of school was a complete and utter blur to Millie. She was just too tired to fully comprehend what was happening around her but she still managed to get her work finished before doing her own thing. Every time she'd look down at her watch it would seem that 4-5 minutes have gone by since the first glance or maybe she read her watch wrong. Her eyes kept feeling droopy and the energy she had worn off, the only thing they would wake her up was the ice cold water she kept with her.
When lunch came and went, Millie didn't feel much better. She had the energy but her body was exhausted and all it wanted was sleep. "Millie!" She heard from just behind her which made her stop in place and wait for whoever called her because it took her forever to get to where she was. Once the pitter-patter of footsteps stopped she looked over her side to see Louis and Jill. "Hey Goose and booger! What's up?" "Goofball, we love you but honey you need to go to the nurse. Just to see if anything is wrong okay?"
Millie reluctantly agreed into going but maybe figuring out if she was just exhausted or if she was sick would make her get some form of closure to finish her school day right. "Hi pumpkin what's your name?" The sweet nurse asked as Millie looked at Jill before looking back at the woman who cheerfully smiled at her and slightly cocked her head to the left. "Her names Millie Brown, we just want to make sure she isn't sick because she has been like this all day." Louis said quickly but he knew the woman understood their place and she was happy that Millie had friends who could do this for her.
"Alright kiddos, you three sit down with Millie on one of the beds and I'll be right there with everything I need. If anything is wrong I'll call Winona. You two are super sweet for caring about her this much. You are truly one of a kind friends." The compliment that seemed so basic meant so much to them and they thanked her as Millie played with the jewelry that Jill was wearing, almost attempting to distract herself from reality.
The warm woman came back in and took Millie's temperature quickly before hearing the beep which made her quietly gasp then look back at Millie. "Alright, you do have a fever honey. I'll call home to see if your mom can come get you. If she can't who can take you home?" That question seemed to stump Millie, who could take her home? Finn obviously had class and it went for everyone she knew. "Um.. Could Gaten Matarazzo take me home? He's the son of my mom's boyfriend. I just don't want anyone to be inconvenienced.."
"I understand honey, I'll see what I can do but for now relax. Drink some water and I'll make sure Ellie brings your stuff home with her." Millie slowly nodded with a tiny thumbs up while her two best friends tried their hardest to comfort her. Maybe today was meant to be off since the start? She wished that she only had this feeling sooner. That would've been nice but at least she had her best friends to support her. It's all she truly needed.
