"It's bitter sweet when you think about it.. let's not think about it much. For our sisters okay?"
-

The Brown household was never quiet and it was strange whenever it was. Winona Brown, the mother of the family, was used to being in the constant state of chaos. She had four girls who she loved dearly back at home despite all the heartache she faced just as her last daughter was born. Yet, she couldn't have her family any other way and each day she was more grateful for the girls in her life.

The ringing of the alarm clock erupted throughout the light purple and blue walls of the twins room, that's where their first day back to school this week began. Millie pushed the annoying beeping box off of her nightstand and sat up in her bed as she looked over at her sisters bed then gently threw a dinosaur pillow at the half asleep girl in the bed across from hers. "Mills, I'm up I promise!" Millie couldn't help but giggle as she slid out of her bed and flipped on the bedroom light. The pair of twins quickly made their beds before changing into an outfit for the day yet they both wore their chunky doc martins. "Ellie, I'll get Madi and Ava up if you get breakfast started"

That was typically how mornings went, Eleanora & Millie would switch between waking up their younger sisters and making breakfast. It made mornings run by smoother and since Madi was freshly 10, she'd watch Ava who was only 8 when the twins were gone to school. The girls mother would be off to work just before they woke up and Winona would make sure she had lunches down so it was one less thing for the twins to worry about in the morning.

The twins high-fived each other before they quickly split off in different directions and Millie tried to be quiet but her docs still made a sound, she was just happy it wasn't the loudest of noises. Millie first stopped into Madi's room and flipped on the room light which caused the sleeping brunette to groan as she placed a pillow on her head. "Good morning Mads, we have school.. Ellie is making breakfast and I'll let you wake up more when im getting av up." Millie hummed out as Madi sleepily gave a thumbs up and the older brunette kissed her head then left the room.

For Millie, waking Ava up was the easiest thing mainly because she'd immediately cling onto you and slowly fully wake up as she's being held. Millie gently flipped the light switch which turned on the little butterfly lamp in the light pink room that is Ava's room. "Good morning Avs, it's time to get up. Do you want to stay in your pajamas or change? By the look on your face ill go with the warm pjs." Millie smiled as Ava nodded and she gently picked up the small girl. Downstairs, Ellie was getting breakfast ready which today was cereal and toast with whatever drink the person wanted.

After a bit, Millie had successfully woke up her younger sisters and they all made way down the wooden stairs to see Ellie placing down the last cup on the island. "The morning feast of build your own cereal toast combo has begun!" Ellie said dramatically as they all sat down at the island to eat their breakfast and during this time it was always peaceful. It was also when wild conversations happened that would make them spit out whatever they were drinking.

The happiness and peace only lasted so long until Madi looked at the clock and cleared her throat which was known to be their 'check the clock' nonverbal cue. Millie looked at the clock and slid out of her chair almost in a rush, it took a second for Ellie to finally figure out why she was rushing around but once she did she was in just as much panic as Millie. "Avs, Madi we love you! We will be at the bus stop to get you after school." Millie rushed out as Ellie threw her a sweater while she put on her cardigan and they both threw their backpacks over their shoulders. "Be good! I'm looking at you ava" Millie playfully teased before the twins kissed their younger sisters goodbye and ran to the bus stop, thankfully making it to the stop on time.

The bus ride was bumpy and loud as it was every morning but without a doubt, one of the twins would fall asleep on the other for the remainder of their trip. This morning, Millie was the one to fall asleep on her sister who didn't mind whatsoever. Ellie was just listening to music and checking up on Madi to make sure everything was going smoothly back at home. Each bump would make Millie stir in her sleep until Ellie gently woke her up to let her know that they arrived at school. Millie sleepily nodded and she rubbed her face just so she could get ready to exit the yellow prison on wheels.

Once Millie and Ellie's combat boots hit the gravel they both sighed as they walked towards the familiar school. "Hey! Brownie twins!" They heard from behind them until it finally clicked in their head who was calling them that. "Jill!" Millie smiled as the curly haired brunette wrapped her arms around the two slightly shorter girls and smiled at them. "You are always strangely energetic first thing in the morning Bill" Ellie laughed as she rubbed her eyes and slowly exhaled. "It's called Monster my dashing Eleanora!" Jill playfully kissed Ellie's head with a laugh. "Another day, another iced tea in English." Millie mumbled as Jill looked at her with a little smirk. "Miss brownie, I think there's a new girl in your class.. go say hi before Morgan steals her." Oh, Morgan's name alone sent shivers down Millie's spine. "Don't worry I will."

As Millie trudged up the stairs to go up to English class, she tuned out the world around her. Her sister went to chemistry and Jill had gone to study hall so she was alone which she didn't mind. She sighed as she turned into Mrs. Cook's classroom and sat down in her spot silently. She looked at the board to see what she had to get out and she made sure to mentally keep track of what she got out. notebook check, class reading check, pen or pencil check and good attitude check? While kids filled into the classroom she sat, staring at the board just waiting for the bell to ring. She only snapped out of her day dream when a girl with almost vibrant red hair caught her eyes which instantly made her heart swell. The girl sat down right next to her and smiled at her, Millie almost swore she had her stomach erupt with butterflies.

Madi sat with Ava in the living room, waiting for their bus to arrive so they colored to pass the time. "Hey Madi?" Madi placed down her crayon and looked at her little sister with curiosity. "Yes avster? What's up" She watched as Ava gently place her crayon down and almost nervously bite her lip. "Why isn't mummy here to get us ready for school? Why is it always Mill and El?" Madi's heart almost shattered as she cupped her sisters face into her palm and weakly smiled at her. "Av, mum wants to be here in the morning and she wishes that she could. It's just how her schedule works now but I promise when mum gets a day off it will be her not the twins okay?" Ava nodded as she rested her head on Madi and everything seemed to calm down until the bus honked to make sure the kids got out on time.
