*Author's POV* Mingyu can admit, he is pretty terrified of Y/n's dad. He always has a mean look on his face, his voice is intimidating, and to mention the fact that he does not like Mingyu at all. Y/n's father made sure Mingyu knew. When Mingyu went to meet Y/n's parents for the first time he thought everything would be okay, a breeze, even Y/n hyped up Mingyu to make him feel confident. That was until everyone was sitting at the table and glares were getting thrown at Mingyu left and right. He was sweating the entire night hoping for everything to go well but it kept getting worse.

"So what making you so interested in dating my son?"

"Where do you see yourself 5 years later with Y/n?"

"Are you able to financially carry my son?"

"What about marriage?"

So many questions Mingyu was unable to answer. Then one day, Y/n's father called Y/n to let him know how he truly felt about Mingyu and he should find someone else, someone better.

"Y/n this guy isn't perfect for you, he's just some bum who's gonna let you down and gonna hold you back from your future and start depending on you. I don't want that to happen to my boy, maybe you two should go your separate days and find someone else, someone who is right for you" Y/n's father said

"Maybe Mingyu is someone right for me. But you need to see that for yourself. You kept throwing so many questions at him when most of them weren't necessary, you were intimidating him the moment he stepped front through the door, you never give anyone a chance, you like to jump to conclusions" Y/n said

So, Y/n made dinner plans with his parents and invited Mingyu. Y/n was scared this can be a huge disaster but he can only hope.

When the couple and Y/n's parents sat down at the table and ordered their food, they sit in silence, Y/n and his mom kept staring at Y/n's father and Mingyu. Then Y/n's mother came up with a good idea. "Y/n come with me, I forgot something in the car and I want you to help me find it," she said and grabbed Y/n's hand and pulled him out of the restaurant, now the two are alone. Mingyu swears he gonna shit himself any moment.

"Listen Mingy, I'm sorry for coming at you the way I did that night. I shouldn't have been harsh, but when Y/n told me he found someone who can make him happy I get scared. Y/n never had good luck when it came to relationships, those assholes break his heart leaving him hopeless, he thought he wouldn't be with anyone ever again. So when he told me about you, I got nervous. I don't want Y/n going through the same paths" Y/n's father said

Mingyu was lost for words. Y/n's father only chuckles, "I trust you Mingyu, I want you to protect my son. When Y/n told me about you he was happier, brighter, and more energetic, his exes were never able to make him this happy, so I can tell you're doing something right" Y/n's father said

And with that, Mingyu and Y/n's father created a good bond. Years later, Mingyu finally went to Y/n's father asking for approval to marry Y/n.

Y/n's father never felt so happy Y/n.
