Not over her
In the past two days, Bella felt everything but good.
She mostly spent those two days in bed, sleeping and eating. Walking and going out wasn't functional activities Bella could do but skipping school for two days was.
And that's why Ms. Langford was giving her a speech on the reading she didn't do. She was yelling at how students are being very careless with the homework she gives them.
However, her yelling was like background noise for Luke. He wasn't listening to her or what she said and was just staring at that one person.
He was staring at Bella, and for a reason he didn't know. Not doubt, he felt bad, because their teacher was yelling at her since she couldn't go to school because of him.
That's when his thoughts traveled to how much of a dick he is. He actually hurt Bella physically and she wasn't able to go to school.
He suddenly found himself thinking about how he used to be and how he's now. Luke was very much a soft and gentle person. Now all he does is yell at people and be rude to them.
He changed and started picking fights. He thought about how angry he could be if someone hurt Bella - like the night Tate did - and now he was the one hurting her.
But then she hurt him too. He always reminded himself, whenever he felt soft towards her or felt guilty or even questioned himself and his attitude, that Bella hurt him.
He wasn't going to lie to himself about this, but yeah there were small moments when Luke felt weak in the knees around Bella.
When he gets worried about her, every time he did. When she wore his shirt, and even his hoodie. When they held hands and ran away from Tate's house. When she laid her head on his shoulder on their way from the forest.
For the most part, Luke hated every single inch of himself for feeling or even thinking like this.
He always pushed those stupid feelings away and reminded himself that this is just a fake version or Bella and the real one is a cruel girl who broke him and hurt him.
That was just the truth.
Luke wasn't going to let this fake smile of hers fool him into thinking that Bella is a nice person or anything near that. He knew too much to trust her pretty face.
Bella hurt him like no one did. She took his hurt out of it's place and broke it into little pieces that can't be put back together.
Luke always remembered that and felt each part of his body and mind hate Bella for it. He wasn't a stupid naive teenager. Luke hated Bella and will continue to do so for the last minute in his life.
Particularly, that's why Luke has changed.
" Mr. Hemmings? " Ms. Langford called, for the third time. Luke realized that when all eyes in their was staring at him, even her blue ones. God he hated her beautiful blue eyes.
" yeah? " he finally answered, after correcting himself about her eyes, which are just boring plain blue eyes that has nothing special, as he told himself.
" were you listening? " Ms. Langford asked. She secretly wished the word no will fall off his lips so she can give him a homework.
" um.. no sorry " Luke shook his head.
" great, a homework for you " Ms. Langford yelled. " and you too Ms. Marshall, why haven't you been attending my class for the past two days? "
" I was sick " Bella responded, remembering that her mom was supposed to call the school and inform them but maybe not.
