The hedgehog looked at you curiously but his expression blanked as he saw the look on your face. That wretched look of righteous resolve. His king had been wearing that expression a second ago.
"Y/N..." He warned, having a gut feeling as to where your head was at. "Don't do it."
Your hands balled into fists. You had already made up your mind. He couldn't stop you.
Scratch that, it would be a very bad idea to try because you were quite sure you had enough strength to ignore him in favor of finding Kirishima.
It was your time to save him. You were ready for this, you were prepared. You could handle it.
Shinsou sighed heavily, knowing that there was nothing he could say that would sway you. Running a hand through his purple locks, he grabbed one of the daggers left behind.
"Put that in your boot." He instructed, casting a look over his shoulder to ensure that everyone had made it to safety. The elders might be older and past their fighting age but they still put up a hell of a battle every time they were woken from their naps or when it was time to take their medication so he was fairly sure they'd be able to hold their own if Shigaraki reached them.
Not that he thought it was possible. The Common Ground was a nightmare to try and break into. He would know. But that was a story for another time.
Hurriedly, you slipped the sheathed blade into your shoe. "What next?"
Shinsou almost rolled his eyes at your eagerness. New recruits, a bore to train and their energy was exhausting.
"Now we pray that the barbarian doesn't kill me when he finds out you went after them." He drawled lazily before shooting you a lopsided grin. "Ready to rock and roll, pipsqueak?"
"Hey!!" You cried out indignantly as the two of you started in the direction that Bakugou took off in moments prior. "Is this really the time for those stupid nicknames?!"
"Yes." Shinsou deadpanned, not even batting an eye as he increased the pace, pushing you to work your legs faster in order to catch up with him.
Pouting, you huffed. "You and Bakugou are the worst."
"Ooooo, I'm so scared." Shinsou commented sarcastically, glaring at you when you shoved his shoulder. "Yah, watch what you're doing. My legs don't work anymore."
You grimaced apologetically. "Ah, I'm sorry."
Shinsou smirked and chuckled. "I'm kidding. It's fine."
It was true, he was running with no problems.
You almost tripped at the realization that his legs were pumping just as fast as yours, the crutches carrying him effortlessly. You didn't know how you missed that before. "How—"
"How 'bout you ask questions later?" Shinsou panted, the trees passing you both in a blur at the pace he set. "Pay attention, we're almost there."
The two of you ran and ran until it felt like your legs were about to fall off. But just when you were about to ask how much longer, it came into view.
Your head snapped back around and your lips parted as you saw the bloodbath before you and you slowed until you came to a halt.
Shinsou grimaced. Messy.
Bakugou didn't know the definition of a clean kill. All his hunts ended with prey that could barely be identified, that's how strong he was.
And stupid.
Raising your nose in the air, you cautiously sniffed and grimaced as the tang of blood filled your nostrils.
Shinsou glanced at you out of the corner of his eye. "You good?"
