Clary
When I woke up Jace was gone. I sighed, and decided I didn't want to lay here anymore. I got up slower this time, and gently took a step. I fell to the ground, still weak.
I groaned, and reached up catching hold of the bed.
I pulled myself to my feet, and tried again, this time making it to the door before falling to the ground again. I sighed, but got up again, and got to my room, and lay on my bed. I was so sick of the infirmary, I liked my own bed and room.
It seemed like forever since I had actually gotten to be in my own room. I smiled softly, and there came the noise of the doors to the institute slamming open.
I figured it was Jace or Alec returning from their mission. I laid back, and waited for Jace to come storming in, and asking where I had gone. I stared at the door, I watched as a figure passed, and immediately recognized Azle, the demon.
I rolled off the bed, and underneath the bed. I heard the footsteps turn and walk around towards my room.
I cursed beneath my breath, and pulled a blanket over myself to conceal my figure. I held my breath as he entered the room, making no movement.
He looked around the room, glanced at the bed, and walked closer to it.
Hy heart stopped beating, and everything seemed to move in slow motion. He went down to his knees, and I moved.
I kicked him in the knees, and rolled out from under the bed, and ran.
I ran towards the door but Azle had grabbed my foot. I fell flat on my stomach, and kicked him in the nose, and then again in his chest. He let go of my foot, and I jumped to my feet and ran outside my room.
I put a hand to my stitches and cringed knowing it would tear open and Jace would kill me, but I had to run.
I ran down the hallway, not daring to glance back. I heard him yell something but my heart hammered in my ears. I ran down the stairs, but my legs weren't on the same page as my head, and I fell, rolling down the stairs and hitting my head on the platform. I groaned, and my brain screamed in fear for my body to move, but the pain was becoming too much for me to function with.
I pulled myself onto my feet, and tried to run again, but my body wouldn't have it, I tumbled down the rest of the staircase and landed on my side.
I felt so defeated, and weak as my head landed on the ground, and I watched Azle run down the stairs towards me. Slowly, he approached me.
My head screamed to move, my body too weak to comply. My head throbbed, and I could feel the tear in my stomach wound. There was blood in my hair from hitting my head.
"Clary, you've harmed yourself more than what would've happen, if you came quietly."
He picked me up, throwing me over his shoulder and the pain ripped through my side, stomach, and head. A scream slipped from my lips.
I looked towards the door as we walked away from it towards a portal that was open. Then there was Jace running through the doors.
"Clary!" He screamed sprinting towards us.
Azle and I were already going through the portal when he grabbed my wrist and yanked me out of Azles grip, towards him.
Azle screamed in frustration, and grabbed my ankle and pulled me towards the portal.
"Clary, hold on!" Jace shouted. He grabbed my other arm, and yanked me closer. Azle's grip loosened, and I managed a kick that sent me falling onto Jace, and Jace on the floor.
The portal pulled Azle through and disappeared. Jace pulled me closer and I looked at him. Then our lips collided, I breathed him in not being able to get enough. Then we let go, and sat up. I rested my head against his chest. We sat there for minutes without moving.
I was still shaking when he let go, and stood up, pulling my onto my feet.
He examined me up and down.
"Are you hurt?"
My hand immediately moved to my side, where a small blood stain had formed on my shirt. I lifted my shirt slowly being surprised to find the stitches still holding. I sighed in relief.
I moved my hand to my head from where I had hit it against the floor, there was a little bit of blood but only minor.
I shook my head at Jace. He walked over to me and embraced me tightly. His strong scent calming the rest of me that had been freaking out inside.
I could feel his heart hammering from inside his chest, and how tense he was. I threaded my fingers through the back of his hair. His heart slowed, and I felt him relax. I pulled back, and kissed him softly. He took my hand, and pulled me against him, as he kissed me passionately.
I let out a small moan of pleasure, and then there was a loud bang from outside.
'Dammit!' I thought. 'Something always interrupts'
Reluctantly he pulled away, pushing me so I was standing behind him, his hand still in mine, and went to go see what it was.
We looked out and watched Valentine and a group of demons marching towards the institute.
'Shit!' I thought.
Valentine stopped before the stairs.
"Give my Clary, and we will leave peacefully"
Jace smirked
"Over my dead body."
"And mine" Isabelle said appearing behind us.
"That would be three" Alec said.
My heart hammered in my chest, I couldn't let them just give themselves up, not for me. I knew we were outnumbered 10:1. I ran my fingers through my hair, I had a decision to make.
Valentine looked at me and I knew that he could read my thoughts like a book.
"Protect your friends Clary. It what your here for, you're useless, do something right for once."
I squeezed Jace's hand tighter and he turned to me. I gave him that look of sorrowfulness, and head-butted him. He stumbled back, and I ran down the stairs pulling my hand from his. The ache of not having his hand in mine had begun already.
Valentine put his arm around me, and the last thing I heard before we disappeared was Jace screaming for me to come back, and that he could protect me.
