Saving Her

Chapter 5: Promises

Jace
"Now I'm going to keep her here, and you'd better meet my demands" he said into the phone, then there was a knock sound, as if a head hitting something.
"Bitch" he hissed the phone sounding distant. Then there was a smack and I heard her make a small sound in pain.
"Clary?!" I sat up fast. Isabelle and Alec looked at me in panic.
I could hear my heart beating so fast and hard.
"Sorry Jace, she can't come to the phone right now. We will talk soon"
The line went dead.
I cursed under my breath, and nearly chucked the phone if Iz hadn't wrapped her arms around me and pulled me into a hug. She hugged me tight, and I just stood there, silent and unmoving.
"What's happened? What did he say? Is Clary alive?"
"She's alive for now, yes." My voice sound weaker and barely recognizable, but I continued.
"Valentine said he wants something from me. He said he would be in touch, but until then, I can't do anything"
I ran my fingers through my hair, and began pacing. Isabelle looked at me, concern filling her eyes. I shrugged, and stormed out of the room. My mind was racing, and she was on it. I didn't even realize I was in the greenhouse, until I brushed against the dark flowers plant that she had held just yesterday.
I fell to me knees, and picked a flower from the plant. I pulled it close to my chest. I knew why she liked the flower. She told me that nothing dark was ever recognized as beautiful in reality, but this flower was. It was beautiful, and it brought her hope, that maybe dark things could be good. I missed her, my heart ached from within me, but most importantly I was very worried about her. I looked up at the glass above my head, and felt my heart within me shatter like glass would, this was our place. I picked myself back up, and went down into her room.
I walked in, and fell back onto her bed. I looked over at the mirror, still holding the flower close to my chest. "I'm going to save you Clary. I promise. I promise I will."
