Statue of Liberty

Peter swung to the top of the Statue of Liberty. A glowing silhouette, that Peter recognized as the Human Torch, was sitting on top of, well, the torch.

The brunette would've laughed at the irony if he wasn't freaking out internally.

He decided to make his presence known by landing with a loud thump on the copper flames.

Johnny looked up at him, arms crossed. "Spidey," he said coolly.

"Hey, Torch. You enjoying the view of the torch?"

They both cringed simultaneously.

"That was a terrible joke."

"I know, I know, I just couldn't help it."

Johnny walked up to the looked out over the water's surface. The sun was just beginning to set, colouring the sky with tints of orange and pink. Peter hopped down from his perch, and joined him at the ledge.

After a long silence, the blond spoke up. "It's you, isn't it, Pete? If not, I've probably been making a total idiot of myself."

"You don't need my help for that."

Johnny squawked in outrage, and elbowed him playfully.

Peter swallowed nervously before tugging off his mask.

The blond's breath hitched. The brunette's hair was messed up, the slight sheen of sweat on his forehead. His hazel eyes were staring into Johnny's ocean blue ones, a stark contrast between them.

"Why didn't you tell me?" he asked softly.

Peter bit his lip, and it was all Johnny could do to stop himself from leaning in and kissing him.

"I wasn't sure if you'd like me as Peter Parker. Spider-Man is honestly the only part of me that people really talk about."

Johnny still looked confused. "But why choose to do it anonymously?"

"I have family and friends, and a lot of them can't protect themselves. Heck, none of my friends at school know I spend my nights moonlighting as a vigilante running around on rooftops and getting shot at. Harry would probably have a coronary if he found out. Besides, I just want to help people. I don't really need validation from the public or whatever. Although, it would be great if Jameson decided to lay off a little."

The Human Torch smiled at him warmly, causing a blush to spread across Spider-Man's cheeks. The sun was low, hanging halfway between the sky and the ocean. Johnny's blond hair was moving slightly in the evening breeze. Peter couldn't help but lean over and ruffle his hair.

Johnny turned to him, expression pensive, before cupping his cheek and leaning in.

Their lips met, and Peter made a quiet noise at the back of his throat. It was like fireworks were bursting and flowers blooming within him.

When they broke apart, the two teenagers couldn't help but laugh softly.
