Chapter 6

The Duke Office

Evan POV

"Your grace.... Lady Raenifer has arrived at our place. Now, she is resting in her bedroom" told Evan assistant Leo Sturvis

"Okay. I will meet her later" answer the duke. He looks so focus reading a document on his table with a serious face

"Leo..."

"Yes, your grace. Did you need anything??"

"I need you to send this to the emperor. We need to tell him about the expedition to kill the monster that will take place soon. One more thing, tell him that after the expedition i want to make event to announce about my engagement with Raenifer to all of the people" said Evan while holding a piece of letter and handed it to Leo

"Alright, your grace. I will deliver it now" Then, Leo went out the duke office room. 

"haaa.... I'm so tired. I need something that can soothe my mind. Erm... maybe I can see her or walk with her. She looks like a fun girl" Evan laugh slowly and get off from his chair and he took the coat before he went out to see Raenifer

Raenifer POV

"What time is it now?? I think i fall asleep so long" Raenifer laid back at her bed 

Knock knock!!

"My lady, are you awake??" asked one of the maid, Sophia

"Yes I already awake" Raenifer said while yawning. She was very tired from a long journey. It's not very far actually. Then, the maids enter the room....

"Your grace has asked to go on a walk with you, my lady"

"What?!?!! Your grace want to walk with me?!?!!" she said with a shocked voice

"Yes, my lady. So, we are here to help you get ready before you go out with your grace"

"Ahh yes yes. You guys need to help me now.. but just give me a clothes that is more easier to wear. I'm afraid if i make your grace wait for me" asked Raenifer to the maids

Raenifer take a bath but with quick bath. Then, she wear the dress with the help of the maid and the maid put some light makeup to her. After that, the maid escort Raenifer to the garden where the duke was waiting. Raenifer saw a tall man standing not too far from her wearing a blue coat.

"I'm here, your grace. I'm sorry if i make you wait for me" Raenifer apologize with a polite words

"It's alright, Rae. By the way, you can just call me Evan. We already become a couple so we need to act like a real couple in front of the others" whisper the duke to Raenifer

"Oh my god... why is he so closed to me?!! Don't overthinking Raenifer... he just want you to act properly so the others doesn't know about the real situation"

"Alright.... E....van" 

The duke smile and laugh a little bit

"You're so funny. I knew it that you can make me release some stress... hahaha"

"What is so funny?? I don't think that I make a joke?? He's so weird" 

"Haha... Shall we go for a walk now??" said Raenifer with a fake laugh

"Ohh yes yes"

They go for a walk around the garden and talking with each other. Suddenly, the duke ask Raenifer about Marquess Terris

"So what are the secret about Marquess Terris??" 

"Ahh... I forgot about that. I will tell you in your office"

"Okay... then we will discuss this matter after dinner" Raenifer nodded and they went for a walk again

After Dinner....

Evan POV

"So what did you know about Marquess Terris?? " asked the duke

"Actually, I heard my father talked to his assistant about Marquess Terris who was quietly doing the drug business illegally but he was never get arrested because he using someone else as a boss to the business. The most important is he's also sell child to gain money" explained Raenifer to the duke while staring at the coffee table

"That's a good evidence for me. It's make me easier to arrest noble men who are using his power for bad things. Actually, I can solve it by myself but I have more works to do that I didn't have time to find the evidence about him" said Evan

"I know that this information is something that you can find and I also knew that you are a busy man that's why I make this deal with you"

"Hahaha I'm proud with my future wife. Thanks for the information. I will asked my people to get the proof from Duke Denner and arrest Marquess Terris immediately. By the way, the offense he committed was very serious for being willing to sell an innocent kids"

Raenifer smile widely after she heard the duke will take action for that old man Terris. How dare he do that to the kids. They still young and has a bright future but their future destroyed because of that old man.

"This matter is already done. So, I will go to sleep now"

"Wait... Can you wait for me?? I want escort you to your room after I finished my work" asked Evan to Raenifer

"Wow... The duke asked me to wait for him?? And why does he looks shy?? He is really weird I think"

"Umm... Okay. I will wait for you"

Evan POV

Raenifer sit on the sofa while waiting for the duke to finish his work. After 30 minutes, the duke finally finish his work and sit in front of Raenifer. He saw that Raenifer fall asleep while waiting for him. He stares at her for a long time and then finally realises that he already look at her face for a long time.

"I think that I make her waited too long. Hmm... I should send her to her bedroom now but I feel sorry to wake her up. How about I do this..." 

Evan carry Raenifer like a bridal style and walk to Raenifer room. On the way, all of the maid looks at the duke with shocked face. They never see the duke carry a woman in his hand

" They're so cute" 

"They really looks like a loving couple who can't separated with each other"

The maids are talking with a low voice. They think that the duke can't hear them. 

"Are we really looks like a real couple?? That's good then... our acting make them believe about our relationship"
