Annie stepped back so that Thor could step inside then kicking the door shut behind him. She hadn't missed the look of surprise on his face that was mixed with deep relief.
"That's wondrous! What did he tell you? Did he speak of what happened to him?" Thor bounced on his toes, if Loki was speaking then perhaps there could be some sort of plan crafted. He didn't miss the drop in the expression of joy on Annie's face and he felt a sudden surge of dread. "What did Loki speak of?"
At Thor's questions, Annie felt her excitement nearly evaporate in the heat of reality. As she thought about how to answer she realized that Thor wouldn't see Loki's one word in the same light as she did. And she wasn't sure if she wanted Loki to hear this conversation.
"He didn't offer insult, did he?" Thor frowned, he didn't think even Loki would be that brutish.
"What? No!" Annie's arms tightened around Loki who was still laying his body against her, his arms around her neck. "No, of course not." She frowned at Thor. "No. Why would you even think that?"
Thor flushed in embarrassment but answered, "Well, he has been known to be churlish at times." He motioned with bad grace, "I apologize."
Annie huffed then muttered as she moved to go sit in her armchair, "It's not me you should apologize to."
Thor followed, taking his usual seat. He decided to bring the conversation back under control and on to safer ground. "So tell me what he spoke of."
Again Annie felt Thor wouldn't be impressed with her answer. "Well, we had kind of a rough morning."
Loki pressed himself against Annie's Lady Pillows, he was going to be in trouble. Perhaps he would have to go back? He had Hulk and Not-Thor under his chin, rubbing a finger over their softness. Now he stretched a finger up to pluck at his bottom lip.
The furrowed brows on Thor's face made clear his continuing displeasure, his eyes jumping from Loki back to Annie's face. "What did he do?"
Now Annie rolled her eyes though her tone spoke her frustration, "Jeeze, Thor. How many times do I have to tell you that he didn't do anything? Stop jumping to conclusions and let me explain, okay?"
Thor raised his hands in a placating manner, "Of course, Lady Annie." He sighed deeply, "Please, continue."
Annie stared at him as though trying to determine how honest he was being before starting again. This time Thor kept his mouth shut as she gave him the abridged version of their morning.
Loki's shoulders rose as he listened, he was pinching his bottom lip as he listened to how bad he had been.
Annie made sure to make all fault clearly hers, explaining that Loki was reacting to her and that nothing he did was negative. When she finally got to the end and told him of the one word that Loki spoke she had regained her enthusiasm. As she stopped speaking she pulled her head back and to the side to be able to look into Loki's face.
He was staring off into the distance but when he caught her movement his green eyes looked over at her. He blinked several times then went back to looking at something only he could see. Inside Loki was waiting for Not-His-Thor to grab him up and take him back for punishments. But maybe Lady Annie would go with him? Loki would do punishments if Lady Annie would be there afterward. He could be brave like she said he was.
Thor had forced himself to keep silent. It had also been a struggle to keep his face neutral, Loki was always saying every thought he had was clear before he even spoke them. Thor had no wish to be the focus of Annie's ire once more. Despite this, as she spoke he felt his frustrations growing, this tale didn't sound as though it were going to have the ending that he wanted, especially since Loki had yet to even acknowledged him.
