Annie sat in a comfortable chair that was more like a recliner which allowed her to rest one elbow on the bed. She kept her eyes focused on watching his injuries disappear right before her eyes, it was freaky and amazing and just bizarre. The burst blood vessels were gone, healed. The bruises around his neck had become a faded yellow-brown in the last few minutes so she knew they wouldn't remain much longer either.
The other people in the room were all on the other side of the bed doing whatever medical people did in this situation. Annie gave a near-silent snort, how did they even know what to do in this situation? Did they deal with crazy magic choking alien collars around little kid's necks that tried to kill the little alien kid? Mentally shaking her head she reminded herself this was where the Avengers worked and maybe lived so, of course, that's something these people probably dealt with all the time.
One of the nurses was carefully pulling the stitches from one of the wounds on Loki's neck, she had already done the one on Annie's side. Now she made a quiet murmur, "This is almost fully healed."
The PA who introduced herself as Lisa Jefferson had explained that the cut was healing so quickly that she didn't want to leave the stitches in any longer. Leaning over to examine the work the nurse had finished she answered back, "Strange did good work, there might not even be a visible scar." Standing up straight she said to the room in general, "J.A.R.V.I.S. please make a note in his chart on the rate of healing, from injury to now."
"I have added the appropriate notations, PA Jefferson. I have also taken the liberty to bring Prince Loki's medical records fully up to date."
"Thanks," She absently replied back while leaning closer to the bruises around Loki's neck. She hummed in what sounded like approval then straightened to look at Annie, "I think in a few hours there won't be any sign he was ever injured." She gave a single shake of her head while looking at Loki in something close to incredulity, "Imagine what could be done with an ability like that."
Annie agreed mentally but when she spoke it wasn't about that, "Thanks for all that you did for him."
The woman gave her a tired smile, "You're welcome. It's an interesting case like this that makes all the slow days worthwhile. Besides, I took an oath, so there's no way I wouldn't have helped him."
Meeting the woman's brown eyes Annie's lips twitched in a frown, "You mean like that ass, Strange?" She shook her head as she felt her anger rise back up, "I can't believe he would have let Loki die."
Her response to Annie's accusation was spoken thoughtfully, "It is something that's rare, a doctor not providing care. Though my understanding is that he hasn't practiced medicine in a while."
"Then he needs to stop calling himself a Doctor and just go with being some magician. Though I wouldn't even hire him to make balloon animals." Annie tried to push her anger down, she was kind of successful.
"Let me reassure you that everyone here will do their very best in providing care to Loki. And Stark Medical has the very best equipment and training that money can buy."
Annie felt some of the tension she didn't even know she was carrying fade away and she nodded. "Thanks, that helps."
A nurse came over with a syringe and other supplies she began opening while she explained, "I'm just getting a blood sample." She set up and then began the process of searching for a vein and tying it off.
Opening then closing her mouth Annie wasn't sure if she was supposed to give permission or not but she had a feeling Loki as an adult wouldn't want his blood taken. She didn't know why, it just seemed his blood wasn't something he would want humans to have. Then again, as a kid, Loki had to be taken care of and she had an obligation to make sure he was healthy. She was saved from having to say anything because the decision was made for her.
