Thousands of miles from New York and its surrounding suburbs the workday was nearing its end and the Quinjet was landing in a field near a remote field observatory. Inside Nat didn't shut the engines down, only placed them in an idling condition that would allow near-instant takeoff. Not that she thought there would be a need for a quick getaway but it was a habit she had no desire to break. Ignoring the Asgardians impatiently waiting she walked to the rear ramp and lowered it.
Sif and Fandral strode down it and onto the grass-covered ground while taking in the surrounding landscape. There was a mountain range that surrounded them though far enough away that they still had a wide view of a blue sky streaked with long white clouds moving across it. Closer to the mountain range there were trees, difficult to make out as individuals they were just a dark green smudge in the distance. Around them was various grass growing, the whole area felt like one large meadow. In fact, there were several visible trails weaving through the stems. The weather was cool though not unpleasantly so.
Ignoring all the beauty around her Sif began her march towards the four-space parking lot where a single utility vehicle sat, its top piled with various boxes. She made her own path which would take her to the front door of the small building, crushing fragrant grasses beneath her boots.
Fandral waited for the Lady Natasha, feeling no rejection when she ignored his outstretched arm to instead continue after Sif. He gave her back an amused grin before stepping quickly to catch up with her strides. "This location? What is its name?" He didn't care, he only wished to have an excuse to converse with the intriguing woman.
"Sweden."
Fandral frowned as he tried to dredge up any memory from his schooling on Midgardian history and drew a blank. What little knowledge of Midgard was only in reference to Asgardian history. He thought back to his few trips here as a boy and young adult, usually with Thor who cared even less than he did about names of places. Neither had bothered to learn anything about the native's names for places. After a deeper search, he came up with a possible name and decided to use it. "Ah!" A memory appeared with the name, "Svithiod! Lovely people." He grinned at the pleasant memory, "Very accommodating women."
Nat stopped as she turned her head to give the Asgardian a dead look which he rightly interpreted.
"Ah, yes, my apologies to your, um, ancient ones. I'm sure your own ancestors were of much more virtuous fortitude."
Without changing expression Nat enjoyed saying, "My people are Russian. There's nothing virtuous about their fortitude. They did what they had to to survive." She began walking again.
"Ah, well, yes." Fandral remained silent as they caught up with Sif who was using her fist to impatiently bang at the side of the single glass door in the front of the building. Thankfully she had decided to not hit the glass door though there appeared to be faint fist-sized impressions in the metal.
Nat pushed the button and a ringing could be heard coming from inside.
Fandral hid his grin from Sif, enjoying that he was not the only one unaware of Midagardian customs.
Sif refused to look at the Midgardian wench. Her teeth creaked as she clenched her jaw as she hoped to Bor's Balls that Thor would be here or the mortals inside would know exactly where he was. She was certain that these journeys had been nothing more than fools' travels because how could such an uncivilized realm not know the location of a god? Imbeciles and savages.
Nat saw the assistant come out a door and into what looked like the tiny lobby of the station. Darcy, Darcy Lewis. Assistant to Doctor Jane Foster though there seemed to be no reason the woman continued to follow the doctor about other than for the thrill of it.
