Tom wasn't back in the common room when I returned with Rookwood but there was a note that fluttered to me the moment I walked through the entrance. It allows me to take it, settling in my hand like it was charmed to be and I hate how quickly my heart seemed to flutter as I read his letter. His handwriting so utterly perfect with sharp and thin lines that explained he won't be back in time before curfew but he'll see me tomorrow for breakfast and how he was sorry.

And that if I need him, I only have to ask Rookwood to call for him.

"I'll be out in the common room if you need anything." The young but future Death Eater tells me as I head for the girl's dormitory. "I'll be waiting here until they get back."

I wanted to ask him why he would join such a gang of dark wizards but I suppose I would have joined them as well. Tom Riddle has a way of carrying himself that made everything he says possible and reachable. Like he could gift someone the moon if he so chooses. He's too clever, too intelligent and too handsome, and coupled with an emotional intelligence that could sway anyone he spoke to... it really was no surprise how he could bend all these purebloods to his will.

As Kallista Emrys, I likely would have joined too if not for the terror he has caused all the families that I cared for.

I think of Lord Voldemort— Tom Riddle as I enter my dormitory and was shocked to find it nearly empty, except for one. The woman was clearly waiting for me, tall and beautiful, armed with a voluptuous body that any man or woman would kill to have. She was the kind of beautiful that was too striking to look away from and it's unfortunate really that she was all too willing to use that body on the man I was just thinking about.

"Emrys," Walburga Black stood before me, her eyes betraying her fear, her worry of approaching me, of this getting back to Tom but her desperation fuels her enough to be here. To say her piece.

She must have waited and made sure Tom and the others were away before deciding to confront me.

Little did she know, she should be more afraid of me than the man I had already killed once.

"I've never liked you." Walburga put her chin up at me, trying to appear like she was superior to me— she wasn't. And she will never be.

"Well, that's a surprise." I say sarcastically, merely staring at her blankly. "Never would have guessed."

"Even when we were younger, you have always been such a smug little shit." She continued, eyes narrowed. "I guess I should congratulate you. After last year, I thought you and Tom wouldn't be together anymore. With you, I thought he would get bored almost instantly. Little miss Princess that could do no wrong."

A smirk pulls at my lips. "Keeping a close eye on me, are you? How obsessed. Kind of creepy, no?"

"Arrogant little bitch. You come back to this school... arm in arm with Tom Riddle, flaunting him around like he's some prize. But don't get used to it. Don't think you're special just because you have him now." Walburga gestures to me like she isn't impressed when I know it's the opposite. "It isn't permanent. There's bets, you know. Bets to see how and when Tom will get sick and tired of you."
