Kala was right.

There were indeed a great many women who took an interest in me. It was neither surprising nor something I cared for. I had always known that I had inherited my disgusting Muggle father's striking features— features that seemed to catch every wandering eye—but I found them more revolting than flattering. For it did not take me long to realize that the only attention I had ever truly craved was Kala's.

I believe it was during our first year at Hogwarts, on the train, that I first saw her— when it all began.

And I hear her before I actually see her.

A laugh.

A giggle.

It was such a bright sounding thing that it made me look up from my compartment. Having been raised in an abusive Orphanage from the moment I was born, the only sounds I was used to hearing was the wails and the screams of children, of the mocking and of the berating, of anguish and of a purely joyless— loveless place.

But the sound of her... it was the sound of someone so utterly happy. Someone that had not experienced hardship. Someone that has only ever felt joy and comfort. And someone that has been given everything in her life.

And it immediately angers me, irritates me. I was bitter. Hateful even. For no one should be so happy, except for the haunting fact that I only wanted to hear more of it, and I got more than I bargained for because not a moment later, she passes by.

She is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. And will ever see.

I knew that the moment I saw her at eleven years old.

It felt like looking at the sun for the very first time after years of only the cold and the darkness.

Never will I forget the blue, blue eyes, squinted in laughter, her nose scrunched up, her lips pulled into an expression I was not used to seeing, and then... I couldn't help but note how lovely her black hair seemed to frame her face. Shiny and healthy and lucious. It felt like the world had stopped then, as those same blue eyes meets my black ones and for the first time in my eleven years of living, the brightness, the happiness didn't dissipate or cringe away in distaste at the sight of me. It only brightened, if only a little.

We didn't know each other.

We have never seen each other before but the way she looked at me— it pulled something inside me and I couldn't stop looking.

She waves, almost shyly, her smile never wavering before she was being pulled away.

It was as if I had tunnel vision for I only noticed now that she wasn't alone. A boy, dressed just as lavishly as the girl I was only too engrossed with, glares at me. The pompous look on his face, the perfectly styled white blonde hair, the sneer of disgust on his lips... that I was used to. The pair bled money from their very pores and though I was mad and jealous about that— comparing myself and my second hand clothes that barely held itself together, it was the fact that the boy was holding onto the girl's hand a little too tightly that made me fully hate them.
