I felt a great many things as I sat down for dinner. Tom sat on my left, a hand on my thigh as his thumb mindlessly traces circles just beneath my skirt. Ursa is on my right and across from us sat Abraxas. My two friends were arguing loudly again. Something about Alphard Black returning from a summer exchange program he took at Drumstrang but I wasn't really listening.
My stomach twisted as another wave of nausea, horror and whatever else came crashing down into my chest. I felt like I was drowning, trying to swim and fight the current of my emotions but it was stronger, pulling me under.
And I wasn't one to dwell on my emotions, letting myself overthink. I've always been the type to keep it together, embracing whatever I felt and channeled it quickly into something that would turn in my favor.
It was something I had to do in order to survive my timeline, keeping my head straight, leaving no room for mistakes, holding it together as we fought against a monster that was so cunning... so powerful that absolutely nothing could go wrong lest it meant everyone's deaths.
That's what I am— or at least was.
Unfortunately, that didn't happen for me right now because the prophecy that was said in my voice during Divination only kept repeating, over and over, the words so clear, the meaning only burying me under horrible thoughts and uncontrollable emotions further and further.
I was a reincarnation.
I was brought back.
And I... I don't know who I am anymore.
Hours ago, I was Kallista Emrys and I had just succeeded where everyone else failed. I killed Lord Voldemort, and I already had plans in conquering the Wizarding World... I was going to be the best Chaser in the world on top of it all and I was going to marry Draco Malfoy.
But now, what am I? Who am I?
Is there no way home?
"Kala, you're so pale. That pepper up potion didn't help at all, did it?" Tom's quiet yet concerned voice spoke through the turmoil that was going through me. "I'll have another potion by your bed tonight. Take it before sleeping."
His voice forced me to focus again, and I hated it. For he shouldn't have an effect on me— Draco... should be the one but he wasn't here right now and if I fucked up, he would likely never be here again.
Soulmates.
Lord Voldemort is my soulmate and I, I am Kala Emrys. Kally is no more.
I needed to get my shit together or Tom— Voldemort will start suspecting something. He's too clever and cunning and frightening capable. He will know immediately if the love of his fucking life, the one he ruined the world for, is acting odd and the last thing I need right now is to have a future Dark Lord suspicious of me.
And Salazar knows, he is too smart for his own good. If he didn't care for Kala, I'm almost sure he would have already done something.
"I'm alright." I smile and when I looked up at him, my blue eyes on his dark ones, I find myself smiling genuinely, the immediate panic in my heart seizing. At least for just a moment. My chest pinches at the sight of him. The look of him, it feels like nothing could ever go wrong with him near. Of all the ironies fate could weave, it is the one who filled my days with fear and unrest who now makes me feel most secure... the man responsible for so much of my anguish is the only one who can quiet it, the only one with whom I feel utterly safe now."I think the incense from the Divination classroom made me feel all fuzzy."
