That night, Luke and Elaine hung out as if they had known each other their whole lives, when in reality it's only been about two weeks.

Right now, they were asking each other random questions while Luke's favorite movie, Mean Girls, played in the background.

Come on, it's, like, the funniest movie ever, he had begged earlier.

"What's your favorite animal?" Elaine inquired.

Luke didn't even hesitate when he shouted out, "Penguins!"

"Penguins?" Elaine giggled.

Luke playfully frowned at her for making fun of his penguins.

"Yes. They're cute and cuddly and I like them." He defended while crossing his arms.

Elaine continued to laugh, so Luke threw a pillow at her face, to which she stopped her sniggering immediately and started to glare at him.

"This means war!" she cried out as she retaliated by throwing the pillow back at him and then proceeding to pick up her own.

They played around like that for a little bit until they settled down again. They both lay on her king sized bed trying to catch their breaths. Both of them were apparently really out of shape.

It was silent for a little while until Elaine spoke up again.

"What's your biggest fear?"

Again, Luke didn't take long to answer her question, "Definitely spiders."

He cringed at the thought of one he saw in his bathroom once. He threw towels at it and hoped it would somehow disappear underneath them. It didn't.

"No Luke, your real fear."

"I guess...being alone again." He answered after pondering for a few seconds.

Both teenagers were staring at the ceiling with their backs still on the bed. They went quiet for a couple moments again.

None of the silent moments that occurred were awkward though; they were comfortable and quite relaxing despite the fact that they were both awkward people.

"Hey Luke, do you believe in ghosts?"

He lightly scoffs at that question. "Why are you asking me?"

Of course ghosts aren't real.

He's not into that voodoo shit.

"I don't know." Elaine sighs, "Just curious, I guess."

The sound of their steady breaths filled the room again until a question popped up in Luke's mind.

"So why did you move here?"

Dubiously, Elaine started to explain, "My dad left my mom and me a while back." Luke nodded towards her as a hint of reassurance. "It's just, I'm scared of ghosts, Luke. And my old house was full of them."

Luke seemed to understand what she meant by that, so they both decided to actually watch the movie. Somehow, they ended up in each other's arms. His nice smell filled up her olfactory senses.

His scent would be best described as earthy. Does that make sense? It smells like summer and pines cones with vestiges of some cologne she doesn't know the name of. It was very refreshing and calming to Elaine. His voice halted her quasi-creepy thoughts about the boy.

"I've been thinking and...I discovered you make me happy." He looked down at her in his embrace and gave her a small smile, completing the cute moment.

"You too Luke, you too." Elaine returned the grin.

Awash with admiration, smiles adorning their faces, and the sound of Mean Girls still humming in the background, they drifted into a deep sleep.

What a good way to spend a Friday night.
