9 days.

It has been 9 days since Luke was forcefully pushed away from Elaine's life.

He needed her.

He missed her melodic laugh and was desperate to hear it again. He missed the way she fiddles with the end of her shirt when she is nervous, or the way her cheeks flame up when she gets embarrassed. He missed listening to her puns, no matter how crappy they were. He especially missed those nights staying up with her and talking about eclectic topics.

He learned so many things about her from those late night talks.

He learned that she absolutely hated her middle name (which is Davis, her mother's maiden name). He learned that her favorite song was Stand By Me by Ben E. King, and that her favorite food was the spaghetti her mom used to make for her family almost every night because she knew how much Elaine loved it. He learned that her parents used to constantly fight and all that Elaine wanted was a friend to talk to on those lonely nights after hearing them scream at one another.

Luke can't let go. She can't be that lonely girl again, so he still makes sure to keep an eye on her. He hides behind corners and secretly watches her house.

When you put it like that it seems really creepy, well that's because it is: Luke just didn't realize that. He was borderline obsessed with her.

He needs to win her back and try to fix her.

On the other end, Elaine has been skipping school everyday to hang out with "Mikey", as he told her to call him. She's been getting really deep into the drug game. She meets up with her fiery-headed companion a lot.

If Luke thought he was being sneaky when watching her, then he was wrong. She could sense him. She knew.

She knew about him watching behind every crevice and she sees him walking on the opposite side of the street of her. He's impossible to miss; six-foot-something and blonde hair that shines in the sun.

Is it really him though? It's impossible to tell because she's been seeing things more often. Or was she? It's all a blur with the drugs. Was she seeing really things, or was it just the high?

Everything was almost too much.
