It's been a week since Elaine's break down and Luke is positive that he loves her.

They've hung out everyday the past week and have talked about music, travelling the world, favorite memories- just about every topic you could think of.

However, one little fact that Luke didn't know about Elaine was that she was also getting closer to Michael.

But it's not really a secret, for, Elaine and Michael wouldn't even be considered friends, more like acquaintances. Or drug buddies. Whatever tickles your peach.

Elaine used what was in that bag that Michael gave her. You know, the drug bag. She loved it, so she continued to use it.

She kept her addiction hidden from Luke because she finally realized how much she meant to him, which made it very difficult for her not to feel the same way about him. It could possibly be heartbreaking for him to find out that she completely ignored what he said.

Speaking of Luke and Elaine, they were currently hanging out. They were their doing their normal things until, somehow, their topic drifted over to Calum.

Elaine updated Luke and simply said that Calum just let the slapping incident go. After that fiasco they barely even glanced at each other. Occasionally, he would throw in bad names, but she kept her skin thick; a couple of words wouldn't hurt her.

Like Luke and Elaine always did when they hung out together at night, they cuddled then eventually fell asleep.

The next morning, Luke woke up to empty sheets next to him. The annoying whirring of the slightly crooked ceiling fan in Elaine's was enough encouragement to push the tired boy out of her bed.

When he got downstairs he saw Elaine sitting at the kitchen table looking deep in thought.

He wasn't staring at her for too long, but he noticed she had her hair in a cute, messy bun and had on leggings with an old Def Leppard tee on top. Luke wasn't even sure if she even listened to Def Leppard, but it was probably just a shirt her dad left behind or something.

He shrugged it off then grabbed two clean bowls from the still-steaming dishwasher and filled them up with some Captain Crunch.

Sliding into the empty chair in front of the girl, he placed the cereal by her hands. For the first time since Luke entered the kitchen Elaine looked at him.

"What's the matter?" Luke inquired the visibly troubled girl.

What happened last night while he was asleep? She was acting very distant and it was very worrying to the boy.

Elaine sighed and softly closed her eyes. Luke, or anyone for that matter, didn't know how much she was hurting.

"Luke, I have to tell you something."

The blue-eyed boy felt his heart speed up. Was she going to confess her love for him?

Don't be ridiculous.

"I'm crazy."

Oh. Well. He wasn't expecting that....

"I'm not...normal."

Where is this going? Luke silently thought to himself.

By this time, both of the teens had slowly stood up from the hardwood chairs. Luke was advancing towards Elaine while she paced backwards until her lower back ran into the kitchen counter.

Elaine started to silently cry; this was going to be very hard for her to say.

"You need to stay away from me." The girl stated.

"Wait, what?" Luke finally spoke up.

They were literally just cuddling last night. What had changed? Did she have some sort of strange epiphany?

"Where is this coming from? I thought we were just have a great time?" Luke sniffed; he was now becoming teary eyed.

Elaine shakes her head and closes her eyes tightly, her long eyelashes brushing the top of her cheeks.

"Please, just leave me alone." She whispers.

"I can't do that, Elaine." Luke basically growled while clenching his fists until his knuckles were white and crescent-shaped indents were left in his palms. Her sudden resentment towards him was extremely frustrating.

"And why not, Luke?" She tested in an almost mocking tone.

It was quiet for a while, and not the comfortable kind that they were used to having whilst with each other. The only sound was the occasional drip of water from the faucet and Luke's labored breathing. You could cut the tension with a knife.

After what feels like and eternity standing there, Luke finally speaks up.

"Because I love you."
