Taylors pov
The sea is cold and bitter as it bites at our faces, I sneak a glance at Greg and its clear he's cold but he will never admit it. I had said it was too cold to spend the day at the lake but he had insisted that Harry would love the water. I stifle a laugh as Greg rubs his white arms with his hands. I had told him to wear a coat but he had insisted that the cold weather would pass.
I feel a little guilty as I snuggle into my large puffa jacket. My little bundle of energy harry got bored within 10 minutes of fishing and is now entertaining himself by throwing stones at the cracked ice that covers the lake.
"Greg they are not biting, why don't we just go home. You look so cold"
"cold, I'm not cold it's just a bit fresh"
I roll my eyes at his reply, he would rather get frostbite and lose a finger before he will admit he's wrong. He's stubborn just like chuck, he's more like chuck than he would like to admit.
It's been a lovely weekend at the Lake House if not a little awkward with chucks presence. He brought his new girlfriend Lucy and his son River but that didn't stop his eyes from following me. He thinks we don't see the way he looks at me, it's been 5 years since our relationship ended but it's obvious he still holds strong feelings towards me. Greg pretends not to be bothered by it but I know it hurts him. The thought of me and his son together is something he will never shake off. Its difficult because I don't regret my relationship with chuck, he did after all give me my son but it has made my life more difficult. Because of me Greg and chuck will never have the friendship they had before.
I look up at the house and see river running riot, I can hear his screams from here. He is a handful, so different to his brother Harry. I wonder how we will explain this all to the boys when their older, it's just a mess. I catch sight of chuck, he's clutching his bottle of water with one hand and rubbing his temple with the other. I can tell he's wishing the water into vodka, he's been sober for so long but he still craves alcohol. I think it will be a life long struggle for him.
Greg really does look Frozen, we can't stay out here much longer. I move from my chair and sit on his lap. He looks surprised for a second before he smiles. I wrap my large blanket around us both and take fishing pole from his hands.
"I'm cold, keep me warm" I whisper.
He pulls the blanket around us tighter and gestures for Harry to join us, he happily gallops across to us and throws himself on my lap. I hand him the pole, he repeats Greg's instructions over and over to himself. I wish I could bottle this moment forever, I love my boys more than words.
"daddy somethings stole the worn" Gary squeals.
"you have to be joking, you've got a bite" Greg helps real in the large trout. Harry beams as he helps pull the fish out of the water.
"I caught a fish, even daddy couldn't catch a fish." Harry shouts up at the house.
"I think in ready to go in now, you were right. It's cold and I'm hungry" Greg laughs as he clears up his equipment.
"we only have 1 fish I thought you wanted to cook it for dinner, unless your jesus reincarnate and can make this fish feed 1 people then we don't have enough "
"I think if jesus were here today he would just call out for takeout, so if its good enough for him it's good enough for us . I've got 99 problems but now a fish ain't one"
