~TENEBRIS’S POV~

“Everyone follow me.” I command, walking out of the park. All five of them, including Lux, follow me down the road to a red and black Victorian house at the end of the road.

“Good afternoon, Miss Tenebris!” an elderly man waves to me, sitting on his favorite rocking chair on his front porch.

“Good afternoon, Mr. Johnson.” I wave back to him and give him a warm smile before unlocking my door.

 “Who’s that?” Lisa asks.

“Mr. Johnson.” I answer, walking into my living room where the lights automatically flick on.

“But why is he in this world?”

“Miss Schwartz, he is dead. Died of a fatal cardiac arrest 37 years ago. This is the after life! Haven’t you figured that out yet? If you’re not a powerful entity like Lux or I you’re a dead person! You never age here, you never vanish here—the people here don’t even know they’re dead. They just think they moved into a new neighborhood and somehow forgot. Mr. Johnson is just a dead man next door who lives with his dead wife and his dead cat. Do you want to be my next new neighbor?”

“No.” she says, shaking her head.

“Then stop asking so many questions.” The six of us enter the formal dinning room and each find a seat at the long glass table. The four clueless teenagers stare at me like a couch potato waiting for the commercials to end so they can get back to their show and waste their life.

“Would you like me to tell them or would you like to have the honor?” Lux asks me, tapping her fingers on the table. Her nails are painted white with gold lines crisscrossing like a golden grapevine.

“I think you should tell them.”

“Wow. You’re actually being the nice big sister for once?”

“Yeah and I can go back to being the big sister that’ll snap you like a twig if you don’t shut down the sarcasm.” I snap at her.

“Well here’s the thing you guys.” Lux says, blowing me off. “It seems that Mortem’s powers are getting stronger and he’s using them on you. His favorite power right now is the 7 deadly sins.”

“The 7 deadly what?” Lisa asks.

“The 7 deadly sins. He’s using the 7 sins on the 4 of you and they will kill you if you don’t control them. Shane has jealousy, Lisa has greed, Sawyer has anger, and Joey has lust.”

“Why do we have the particular sin we have?” Lisa asks Lux.

“Mortem didn’t just choose a random sin to influence you with. He's way smarter than that. Everyone already has the 7 deadly sins in them, he just chose the sin that was the strongest in you and made it...deadly.”

“So why did he give me greed?”

“Because he thinks you’re a greedy little bitch.” I answer, leaning back in my chair and crossing my arms.

“How am I greedy?” she asks, very much offended.

“Bitch, did you see how many cherries you was snatching off that tree? I can never take you to the park again!”

 “I—!”

“Wait. What’s that?” Joey asks. We all go silent to here faint crying coming from upstairs.

“Is that a baby crying?” Shane asks.

“I’ll go check on them.” Lux sighs.

“Check on who?” Sawyer asks. “You have children?”

 “No.” I answer casual.

“Then why the hell do we hear multiple babies crying?”

“BECAUSE YOU’RE A DELUSIONAL PRICK, HARTMAN?”

“Where did Joey go?” Shane asks. I look at the seat across from me and find the absence of Mr. Graceffa. I snap my head to the right and see him sneaking up the stairs to find the mysterious crying.

“NO!” I scream and throw my hands up. A streak of black smoke swirls around Joey, traveling up his body to wrap around his throat. The dark smoggy entities lifts him off the ground as he struggles to get air to enter his lungs, but he soon crumples to the ground silent and motionless.

“JOEY!” Shane screams out. He runs over to the still boy and checks his pulse, but it’s no use. We all already know he’s dead.
