It was a cold night, with frost settling on the windows of one of the sixth floor hotel rooms. Six levels below there were hundreds of people, enjoying the night, unaware of the monstrous act taking place above.
He sat on the bed, wiping his blood-stained gloves on the white sheets as he stared at the person in front of him. He twirled the knife in his hand and watched as the person cowered away, a slight twinkle visible in his eyes.
"Please... spare me..." the victim choked out, only making the man scoff. His bare thighs trembled covered in cuts where the knife had pierced his precious skin.
"Why should I?" His voice was cold and low. Just hearing it would make one shudder.
"Please! I-I'll do anything! Just p-please..."
"I'm a patient person," He chuckled, "but I have my limits."
He stood up and grabbed his victim by the hair, completely exposing his pale neck. With a malicious smile, hidden under his black mask, he glided the knife across his victim's neck. Feeling somewhat satisfied, he let go of his hair and, within seconds, his victim fell limp.
The man smiled, pushing the dead victim's head around with his foot to check. Once he was content, he gathered his belongings, ready to leave. He hummed to himself as he donned his coat, placing his hand on the doorknob. Suddenly, he stopped in his tracks.
"Almost forgot," he whispered with a cold laugh. He reached into his front pocket and pulled something out. Placing it on the centre of the bed, he lightly patted the head of his little paper crane before heading straight out.
All that was left in the room was the dead man and the paper crane.
