"I'm so sorry!" Jeongin cried to no one in particular as he picked up the dripping sheets of paper that were practically dissolving before Jisung's eyes. "I didn't mean to- oh no!"
Jisung finally unfroze from his spot and rushed to help Jeongin and, as he looked at the papers, he realised that they were the ones he was supposed to take care of. Panicked, Jisung began to try and path them dry with his sleeve, staining his white shirt, but to no avail. He and Jeongin sadly picked up all the papers and piled them up, salvaging what they could from that treacherous puddle of coffee, while Seungmin returned with a bundle of tissue paper to try and dry it. Some of their colleagues stopped to see what was going on and Jisung desperately tried to cover up the commotion with his slim body.
"I'm sorry." Jisung heard Jeongin murmur from behind him, while he knelt down to assist Seungmin.
"Wha-" Jisung looked back to see who dared to talk to him right now. "Sorry isn't going to cut it, right now. How did you even manage to do this?"
"I was taking the papers back to Minseo and Kyungmin asked for a coffee, so I thought I'll get the coffee first since it was quicker but then my hand slipped and I..." He trailed off since the rest was pretty obvious and Jisung sighed.
"We'll figure something out later." He said. "For now go and ask Minseo what those papers actually were."
Jeongin immediately sped off, leaving Jisung and Seungmin to finish off cleaning. As Jisung wiped the floor, he couldn't help but feel guilty, since he could've just listened to Jeongin in the first place and looked through the documents. Instead, he put it off for later and now the documents were swimming in coffee.
"Jisung!" Jeongin was jogging back to the crime scene, with a fearful look on his face.
"What now?!" Jisung yelled, ready to blow.
"Um, two things:" Jeongin began, his voice quivering as if he were about to burst out into tears. "those were this months witness statements that Minseo needed you to file-"
"What?! You're kidding, Jeongin-" Jisung ran a hand through his hair, trying his best to remain calm.
"and-" Jeongin continued.
"And? How could this be worse?" Jisung asked, in disbelief.
"The chief heard me tell Minseo and he's on his way." He mumbled, moving far away from Jisung's reach just in case.
Jisung froze, unable to take in what had just happened. Not only did the witness statements from this months get drenched in coffee, Jisung didn't even have a chance to hide it from the chief and save his job.
"Jeongin," he muttered with an unusually calm voice. "Why didn't you warn me earlier about YOUR UTTER STUPIDITY BEFORE I AGREED TO LOOK AFTER YOU?!" He raised his voice, causing Jeongin to flinch.
"Is everything alright here?" Jisung immediately stopped scolding Jeongin and felt a chill down his spine when he heard the familiar voice of the chief.
"Yes..." Jisung whispered, timidly, keeping his gaze locked on the floor.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes?"
"Then what's that stack of soggy brown papers behind you?" He asked, raising an eyebrow as he looked behind Jisung.
Jisung's head whipped around and he saw Seungmin poorly trying to take the papers out of sight. He sighed, already knowing that it was over for him.
"Should we take this to my office, all three of you?" He pointed at Jisung, Jeongin and Seungmin, who honestly had nothing to do with it and just wanted to help.
