"You can stand up, y'know." Jisung said, staring at the boy, who was still bowing at a 90 degrees angle. Jeongin shot up again, standing firmly as if he were being inducted into the military, causing Jisung to eye him, up and down, distastefully.
"See? You two will get along just fine." The chief smiled, proudly, looking between the two. "Now get out of my office."
"What- Wait, sir!" Jisung turned away from Jeongin to the chief, putting his palms together in a pleading manner. "You can't leave me with him - no offence - I... I-I have work to do, I have responsibilities, I can't look after some kid, especially not right now."
"Jisung," The chief sighed, looking as if he were restraining himself from slapping Jisung across the face. "You should've thought about that before you went and committed fraud right in front of my face!"
"But, sir-"
"Just take the damn kid, you idiot!" He yelled, causing both Jisung and the newcomer to flinch. Jisung figured it wouldn't be smart to continue arguing and so shooed Jeongin out of the office, following right behind.
Feeling dejected, Jisung began walking back to his desk in the office, but stopped when he heard footsteps close behind him. He turned around and almost collided with Jeongin, who he had expected to go his own way and contact Jisung when he needed help or something. Instead, here this kid was, following Jisung back to his desk.
"Can I help you?" He asked, feeling a little uncomfortable. Jeongin shook his head, so Jisung began walking again, but came to a stop again when the footsteps behind him continued. "Why are you following me?"
"Chief said I have to stay with you." He said, as a matter of factly.
"You don't have to." Jisung said, with a somewhat disgusted expression on his face. He felt uneasy having someone constantly watching him, even if it was just one of his subordinates.
"Nuh-uh, Chief said I have to, no matter what."
Jisung groaned and focused on making it to his desk without socking this kid in the face. He sat down, deciding that the best thing to do with his time was complete his actual work, but just couldn't bring himself to do anything. He didn't like how Jeongin was sat beside him, swirling around in the spinny chair, watching Jisung with intent.
"Why don't you go and do something?" Jisung suggested.
"You're supposed to give me work." Jeongin clarified, much to Jisung's displeasure. Just then, Seungmin walked past, like a godsend.
"Seungmin!" Jisung called, relieved. "Give this kid something to do, please."
"No can do." Seungmin refused, simply.
"What? Why?"
"Chief told all of us here that this kid is your responsibility and none of us are to assist you."
"Ok, but chief isn't here now, is he? Help me out, Seungmin." Jisung begged.
"Nope-"
Jisung's phone rang, interrupting their conversation as Jisung looked down to see who it was, snatching his phone from the desk and standing up to leave, immediately. However, Jeongin got up as well, ready to follow him and Jisung couldn't afford to have anyone listen in on his conversation. He grabbed Jeongin's shoulders and pushed him towards Seungmin.
"Look after him!" He yelled, while walking out of the office towards one of the more quiet corridors as he answered. "Minho?"
"Hello, you." Minho sighed. "How's things going?"
"Fine." Jisung answered, untruthfully. He was still worried about how to manage time between his work and home, especially now that he had a newbie to look after, he had a feeling his hours were going to be longer and he'll have way less time to be alone.
