The restaurant was empty when Jisung entered, making him wonder just how many people were invited and whether or not Crane would be amongst those people.
"Jisung!" Hyunjin voice rang throughout the empty hall, breaking Jisung away from his thoughts. Jisung smiled as Hyunjin pulled him into a friendly hug.
"It's good to see you again." Jisung murmured, pulling away from Hyunjin's embrace.
"The uniform looks good on you." Hyunjin complimented Jisung, looking him up and down.
Jisung nodded, feeling too pressured to say anything.
"Are you ok?" Hyunjin's tone was worried, as he glanced at Jisung's expression.
"Jang Dae Hoon is hosting a dinner here tonight." He muttered, mostly to himself.
"Yeah, but what has that got-"
"Where is he going to sit?" Jisung asked, looking around.
"Over there, in the middle." He pointed to a large table, similar to a refectory table. "Do you need anything else?" Hyunjin asked, concern still evident in his voice.
"Time." Jisung answered, honestly, knowing that it was the one thing he didn't have. "Hyunjin, just cover for me." Jisung added, before Hyunjin could say anything more.
"Sure." Hyunjin was more than confused, but knew better not to ask.
Jisung sped off and began walking around the perimeter on the outside, looking for blind spots or secluded places. Then, he did the same for the inside, trying his best to familiarise himself with the place. He also took some time to help set up, just so that he would blend in a bit more.
There was still half an hour left before the dinner began, but a few guests began filing in, Jang Dae Hoon front and centre leading them all in. Jisung looked around at the few guests that were there already, recognising a handful of them. All of the people who joined Jang Dae Hoon at the head table Jisung could name, apart from one person. There was a young man stood a step behind Jang Dae Hoon's chair him who Jisung had never seen before.
Jisung watched the young man for a while, trying to figure out who he was. He was always with Jang Dae Hoon which hinted at some sort of significant. He observed how the young man attended to Jang Dae Hoon and handed him things, which led to the conclusion that he was probably an assistant or something similar.
Jisung couldn't help but feel uneasy around this assistant, or whatever he was. From what Jisung knew, this young man was the perfect target for Crane. Of course, Jisung could be overthinking things and Crane had targeted another person, but Jisung couldn't let go of his worry.
"Jisung?" Jisung was immediately distracted from his train of thought by Hyunjin, who tapped his shoulder.
"Wh-what's up?" Jisung responded, putting on a fake smile as he turned to face his friend.
"Nothing. I was just checking in." Hyunjin explained, turning away slightly to wipe the table behind them. "You seem a little... out of it."
"What do you mean? I'm fine." Jisung assured.
"If you say so." Hyunjin chuckled, knowing that it was a lie. He knew better than to pry, so he tried to change the subject. "How have things been recently? With work and everything else?"
"Who, me?"
"No, my ex." Hyunjin answered sarcastically, rolling his eyes. "Yes, you."
"Oh... well, it's been alright, I guess." Jisung answered, somewhat truthfully. "Work's a bit draining, but other than that, I'm doing good."
