"Hyunjin!" Jisung exclaimed as he ran to hold his friend, who had fallen to the floor, no strength left in his body. "Minho, call an ambulance!"
Minho immediately obeyed, whipping out his phone, while Jisung fought the urge to cry. His mind was clouded with fear and panic. He couldn't push away the guilty feeling growing in his mind. Hyunjin had been seriously hurt and it was all his fault.
"I-I-I didn't do it!" Heejin cried, stepping back with his hands in the air. "It- it wasn't me, it was him!" He pointed at Jeongin, who had frozen, unable to comprehend the gravity of what he had just done.
Jisung tried to ignore the chaos that had erupted around him and focus on Hyunjin. He still seemed to be conscious seeing that he winced as Jisung held a bundle of napkins on the shot wound, putting as much pressure possible to decrease the bleeding as much as he could.
"You'll be ok..." He murmured, mainly trying to give himself some reassurance. "You'll get through this, Hyunjin."
Finally, an ambulance arrived and carried Hyunjin out to take him to a hospital. Although Jisung wasn't able to go with him since he wasn't family, he made sure to see him off, asking one of the emergency medics what hospital they were going to so he could go later on.
Jisung returned to the restaurant to see Jeongin still stood where Jisung had left him. However, he seemed to be in tears as Minho awkwardly pat his back.
"Jisung!" Minho called when he spotted the distressed police officer. "Come, quick!" He beckoned.
"What's wrong?" Jisung questioned, with a tone of concern as he rushed towards them.
"Your kid is crying and he won't tell me why." Minho explained.
"Jeongin." Jisung said, gently holding Jeongin's shoulder, causing the younger male to look up. His face was stained with tears and his eyes were puffy as he sniffled. "Why are you crying for, huh?"
"Will- will your friend b-be ok?" He asked, in between sobs.
"He'll be fine." Jisung smiled, comfortingly, trying to assure himself as well as Jeongin.
"The knife- it was-I didn't mean to. I-I-" Jeongin began, but Jisung silenced him by pulling him into a hug. Jeongin simply cried harder, holding Jisung tight in search of some sort of comfort. Jisung knew Jeongin didn't have any malicious intentions behind what he did; he was scared. Besides, Jisung couldn't begin to imagine the guilt Jeongin must be feeling.
"I know you didn't."
Soon, Jisung, Jeongin and Minho were sat in the waiting area of the nearest hospital. Although it was late at night, the hospital was as busy as ever. There were patients waiting around, nurses rushing back and fro, families talking to various members of staff; some of them arguing over little things. However, despite all the noise, Jisung felt drowned in silence and his own thoughts. The three of them were sat quietly, until Jisung finally spoke up.
"Say, Jeongin," he began, "how did you get a hold of that gun? You're too inexperienced to have a gun yet."
"Chief gave it to me." He admitted. "He told me to take it out in case you were in trouble. He said you were going to go do 'dodgy work'" He quoted, making Minho snort while trying to contain his laughter.
"I don't think he intended for you to actually use it, Jeongin." Jisung sighed.
"I know, but I- I didn't want you to get hurt. The knife was too close." Jeongin muttered, shuddering at the memory. As flattered as Jisung was that Jeongin cared about him that much, he would rather Jeongin not do these dangerous things in his defence. However, it seemed there was more to Jeongin's actions; Jeongin had always been able to keep calm and level headed, even in horrible situations at work, unlike Jisung, who seemed to snap way faster. There had to be a deeper reason as to why Jeongin reacted the way he did.
