Chapter Twenty- Eight

He kissed me, feverishly. Bringing his hand up to cup my cheek, drawing out the slow and sensual kiss that made my heart flutter. My senses finally kicked in and pushed him an arms distance away. My hand immediately shot up to touch my lips. My hands slightly shook at what just happened as I forced myself to look into his eyes. "What did you do?! What did we do?" Oh my god.. I-I just.. What am I supposed to tell Roman?

"Kennedy."

He's going to break up with me. My heart slightly breaks at the revelation. My nerves make me feel nauseous. He won't want me.

"Kennedy!" Vance grabbed my shoulder, shaking me lightly.

I snap out of my thoughts and stare at him. "Vance.. I-" My words fell flat when I couldn't find the words.

He swallowed harshly before talking. "I'm sorry Kennedy, I don't know what came over me." I shook my head softly. I couldn't stand to hear what he had to say. He stepped closer to me while I took a step back.

"Vance." He looked down to meet my eyes, waiting for my response. "I need to go. I- I need time. Please can I have that." My voice came out quiet.

He looked a bit disappointed and upset but gave me a curt nod. That was all I needed to walk away. I didn't even spare him a glance fearing what would happen if I do and the guilt I'd feel if I saw his heartbroken expression. After a while my walking gradually became faster to the point where I was sprinting home. Roman's home. I made it inside the house, shutting the door behind me and doing the same once I got inside my room. I sat on the bed, bringing my knees up to my chest and finally let it all out. Loud sobs were heard throughout the room as I let my infidelity sink in. The more I thought about it the harsher and more frantic my sobbing became. Eventually my sobs quieted down to nothing. I felt numb knowing what I did. I heard a soft knock at the door.

"Kennedy?" I recognized that voice. I stared at the door, intensely.

"Maxie?" I choked out. He slowly opened the door, peeking in. When he saw me, he walked over, cautiously. He sat on the bed, next to me and took me into his arms, comforting me. In any situation I would probably laugh at how weird we might look, even if we were close in age I was still a bit taller than him. I leaned my head against his shoulder, releasing a breath I didn't even know I was holding.

His grip tightened around me. "Did he.. Did he hit you again?"

I sat up quickly. "God no! He didn't." I said, getting quiet towards the end.

"Then what's wrong?" He asked, concerned. Rubbing his hand up and down my arm.

I let out a shaky breath. "Max." He looked up at me, feeling how serious I was. "I made a mistake." My voice cracked and just like that the tears came again.

"Kennedy, what did you do?" He asked, softly but it seemed as if he was already accusing me which caused me to flinch.

I looked down at my hands, picking at them. "I-" My voice seemed caught in my throat. "I kissed someone else." Regardless of how afraid I was to meet his gaze, I looked at Max. He stared at me closely and intensely as if figuring out what to say.

"I'm not sure what to say-" The front door opened and then slammed shut, cutting Max off. We both looked at each other with fear and an anxious look. Roman came up the stairs, with each off his footsteps anxiety crept up. I couldn't turn around once I knew he was at the door.

"Oh bunny, you're home? What are you and Max up to?" He walked up and kissed my cheek while ruffling Max's hair. None of us know what to say. "Why are you guys so serious? What happened?" He let out a chuckle and Max gave me a 'Tell him look'. I really didn't want to. I just wanted to disappear off the face of the earth.

"I should go.." Max began but I grabbed his hand for him not to go only to have him squeeze my hand, reassuringly before stepping out of the room. My fingers twiddled with the bedsheet to calm my nerves.

"Roman. I need to tell you something but I-I'm scared to." He sat down in front of me, his hands rubbing up and down my leg.

"You can tell me."

No matter how many times he gives me words of reassurance it still cannot calm my nerves one bit. I was all jittery and on edge. "I made a mistake." It seemed like deja vu, that one sentence seemed to be the only thing to hold everything together. My heart hammered against my ribcage. "I- I kissed someone else." His hand stilled on my leg before gripping it tightly. It didn't really hurt but I could tell he was upset.

"What." I really didn't want to say it again. When I didn't respond he stood up and began pacing the room. "It was with him wasn't it? When I left you both together." He questioned angrily, slamming his hand against the door making me flinch. He walked over to me, banging his fist on the nightstand next to me. Max came into the room, looking around to make sure everything is alright. When he saw how angry Roman was he was about to go in between us when Roman yelled "Stay out of it Max!" Max looked at me for confirmation which I just nodded. He hesitantly left, sparing me one last glance.
