Chapter Thirteen
Kennedy's Point of view
I couldn't believe the fact that Roman got me a dog, but more so the fact that he introduced me to his brother.
I just thought meeting his family was something far in the future since he never mentioned them before, which is why it was such a surprise to me when he brought and introduced his brother to me.
It was a sweet gesture all together.
Which as of right now my attention was solely focused on the puppy
"You're the cutest puppy in the world, aren't you!" I cood as the puppy just jumped happily around me.
"So Maxie or do you prefer Max like Roman said?" I asked, my eyes still focused on the ebullience puppy.
His cheeks tinted pink before muttering a quiet
"You can still call me Maxie." causing me to smile softly at him
"Aww what was that Maxie, I couldn't hear you?" Roman asked tauntingly causing me to lightly smack his arm "Quit it Rom don't be mean." He immediately apologized, causing a snicker to escape his brother resulting in a glare from Roman.God it must be nice to have siblings.
It was a nice change to see them both interacting and just having a joyous moment. After my mother and I lost my father, we spent a lot of time being just us, alone.
Those days were cold and dark. We didn't really smile or have any warm moments like this one right now.
"Kennedy are you okay?" My thoughts are shaken away as I turn to see Max looking at me concerned "I'm alright, darling." I say softly, not wanting to dread in the past too much.
"Anyways, Maxie how old are you?" "I'm Thirteen years old." My eyes widen slightly at his answer
"You're four years younger than me!" I state, surprised. He nodded his head at my revelation. He looked so much older for his age.
I noticed Roman glanced down at his watch momentarily as Max and I continued to talk.
"I think it's time for Max and I to go back home." I couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed without them being around and apparently so did Max
"Can't we stay longer?" Roman looked between us sighing"We can't as much as I want to, Mom and dad will be home in an hour." Come to think of it they have been here a while, a couple of hours that is. "But we can't just leave Kennedy alone." He tried to reason holding the puppy I have yet to name.
"It's alright Maxie, yall have to go home regardless." I reassure, causing him to slump against the couch in defeat. Roman stood up before pulling me up to my feet, gently. He wrapped his arms around me firmly. I could smell his intoxicating cologne that was invading and clouding my senses. He was so warm. I wrapped my arms around his neck, standing on my tippy toes so he wouldn't have to bend a lot to reach me.
"Bye Rom, Take care alright." He nodded slowly, his face still stuffed in the crook of my neck before pulling away
"Bye mi amore, I'll see you tomorrow." I didn't understand what he said but I liked the way it rolled off his tongue so smoothly. He leaned back down slightly dipping me while holding my waist as he placed his lips on mine, kissing me passionately.I would kiss him forever if I could.
He pulled back leaving a small gap between us before capturing my lips in his again, almost like he didn't want to stop either.
This time I pulled away because I know if I didn't, he wouldn't have and this would have gone further. He released me from his grip reluctantly, silently understanding why I pulled away.
