Chapter Two

I woke up to the sun streaming through my window, shining a beam of light into my room.

I yawned quietly while sitting up to stretch, Noticing I had about an hour before I had to head to school, silently groaning.
I reluctantly got out of bed and got dressed in a mid-thigh black skirt with a maroon knitted sweater along with knee-high socks.

Walking down the steps into the kitchen I noticed my mother wasn't in the kitchen like she usually was.

What I did find was a small pink paper, picking it up noticing it was my mom's handwriting telling me that her shift started earlier at the hospital than usual.

I smile softly, at least she left a note.

Walking to school was probably my favorite part of the day due to the fact that it was so calming to watch the scenery and to smell the morning dew and breeze.

I took my time walking but no matter how much longer I wanted to delay making it to school to keep watching everything around me would never be enough to soak up all the beautiful smells and sights.

Walking to the front of the school I noticed Raelynn standing at the front gate waving me down

I quickly jogged up to her

"Hey Raelynn, morning!" I say cheerfully

"Hey Kennedy, good morning also!" I smile at her "Oh and I love the outfit by the way, trying to impress someone?" She asks, wiggling her eyebrows, I feel my face flush deeply as I mumble a shy thanks.

We headed inside to begin our day, walking inside Ms. Williams class.
I sit in an empty seat to which a boy my age sits next to me

I smile at him before preparing my work only to see Roman walk into class glaring at the poor boy next to me.

His gaze hardens as he stares at the boy while walking up to us

"Get up, this is my seat." Roman demanded causing the innocent guy to quickly pack his things and go to another seat.

I look back to Raelynn who shrugged just as confused as me, Roman then proceeded to sit in the seat next to me like nothing happened.

"Uh good morning Roman." I say smiling sweetly, he turns to me, his gaze softening before gruffly saying "Morning bunny." back.

I remember hearing him call me that last night.
I don't know why but i like it.

When study hall came I unconsciously found myself in the back of the library where a flight of stairs led to a smaller room with more books.

I laid my belongings on the ground as I looked for a book. Once I found one on Romance I sat on the floor and began to read.

Not realizing how engrossed in the book I was until suddenly I felt a presence and staring at me.

Slowly looking up from my book I noticed Roman sitting across from me watching me with some glint in his eye I couldn't decipher.

"Hey." My voice came out as a soft whisper "Wanna hear me read?" I ask her softly,
he stared a few seconds more before nodding.

Smiling I patted the spot next to me to which he he took being careful to not touch me

"You can touch me its fine."

For some reason his eyes darken with an unfamiliar look as a growl of some sort escaped his lips, I stared back wide eyed confused.

Did I say something wrong?
