Chapter Seventeen

Kennedy's Point of view

I was abruptly awoken by Roman yelling at someone through the phone
"Stop with the filthy lies!" I flinched at the tone of his voice, my sleep long gone.

Roman was practically shaking with anger when the call ended
"What's wrong- Who was that, why were you yelling?!" I bombarded him with questions, alarmed. I was sitting on my knees on the bed waiting for him to answer me as anxiousness filled my body.

He didn't answer me.

He just stood there staring, his silence made me worried as I felt tears brim my eyes. I kept calling his name to get him to answer me with no prevail.
"Roman, just tell me. You're scaring me." He shook his head, looking me straight in the eye before instructing me
"I'll explain soon mi amore, but I need you to call your mom and tell her to pack a few of your things and hers as well, along with Kings. Tell her to meet us here okay..." I breathed in deeply nodding as I wiped my tears, pulling my phone to call my mom.

I waited a few seconds until she picked up.

" Hey darling, what's up?" I cleared my throat "Kennedy, are you crying?"

"N-no mom, I'm alright. Um Roman wants you to go pack for you and King and meet us here." My voice wavered.

"Why does he want us to pack and go there?" she asked confusedly, I couldn't take it. "Mom I don't know but I trust Roman so can you just come with King, he told me he'll explain when you get here." She obliged and said a quick goodbye before hanging up.

I sat there on the bed, thinking of what Roman could be going on about and who he was talking to, to make him that angry. I've never seen him that angry before. Roman eventually walked back into the room and it was like the world around us kept turning but in this room at the given moment we were stilled in time.

We both stayed silent, not saying a word until I broke it "Roman.. What's going on?" I asked him, my voice much stronger than the last time I asked him.

He glanced at me from where he was standing by the door. The way he was looking at me I knew it was serious, causing me to become even more anxious. "I-My family runs a mafia. My father at the moment is the leader and boss but recently I've been taking charge little by little to take his place." He explained this to me slowly.

I didn't know what to think, weren't Mafias dangerous? "S-so.. you kill.. People?" I ask, afraid of the answer.

"..No.." I could tell by the way his eyes narrowed in on me in concentration.

I rose up to my feet. "You hesitated, y-your lying!" I accused, pointing my finger at him.

"I am not!" He denied. I couldn't believe him, he's lying straight through his teeth.

"Why are you lying to me? So you have."

I turned away from him trying to process this. He's killed people.. He hurts people for his own gain.. "Kennedy, whatever you're thinking right now, stop it." He tells me cautiously. He's been lying to me this whole time, why didn't he tell me? "You know I'm not like that, bunny." Reasoning was far gone from my mind.

"Do I?" His eyes saddened as soon as I said this.

"W-what do you mean by that?" I turned back to him in disbelief.

"You've lied to me, I don't know what to believe!" It felt like everything since the moment we met was a lie, yes he was hiding the truth from me but to think that he killed people behind my back and I just blindly fell for him. I wrapped my arms around my body, turning away.
