Chapter Twenty-Four
After bowling with the gang, Rome and I headed out first. It was still day time.
"Let's take King out for today to the dog park since we haven't had time to spend time with him and because I'm sure Rosalina needs a break." Roman said with a soft chuckle.
I smiled at the idea. "That's actually a great idea since the day is still young and I think he'd like spending the day with us." so then it was settled since we haven't spent that much time with him which thankfully Rosalina has been taking good care of him for a while so he doesn't get too bored. We got to the house and quickly picked up King before putting him in the car. Entering the park, a slight breeze rustles the leaves making them fall to the solid ground one by one. The air was warm, the beams of sunlight glowing on my skin. Flowers are vast, and they conceal the freshly cut green grass. The pathway is nothing more than dirt littered with random rocks. the children are playing and the parents talking among each other. On the other side there was a fenced-in area for many dogs to run around and play. We decided that before letting King play with the other dogs he would play by himself first with us. Roman and I took King to a small clearing not too far from the dog park. We unhooked a leash and she took off running between us, she was well-trained so she didn't actually run away from us but she ran circles around us and would run off and then come back. That was before she took off into the fields of trees.
" King that isn't funny!" I yelled, wanting her to come back.
About three seconds later King leaps through the trees that line the path with a stick in his mouth. With those big brown eyes and his golden tail swishing like he just got all his birthday wishes at once, I know what he wants. He wants that slimy stick thrown down the path, and not once, but over and over. The bark is going to leave brown flecks on my hands, this specimen fell from the tree some time ago and has rained on for some time. I wouldn't be too surprised if it snaps when it lands on the path. But I can never refuse King, he's just too dang cute. So I curl my fingers around the stick and feel the cool dampness. He releases it at once and sits. As my arm wheels backwards he runs forwards fast and instead of doing what he expects I wait until he stops and looks at me. Then I throw the stick back down the path behind me as far as I can and he hurtles after it. I walk all of six paces and she's back in front of me, eyes still dancing. We went on like that for about a while, Roman and I taking turns to have King fetch. He seemed to be having a lot of fun. When we got tired of throwing the stick around we brought him inside the dog park, he was so ecstatic since he's never really seen other dogs before. He ran immediately to go sniff and play with the other dogs which I'm grateful for because I don't know what I would do if he was aggressive like other dogs. He just kept running around and playing but every so often he would turn around look at us tilting his head a bit sticking his tongue out making it look like he smiled. I watched with a smile as I saw how happy he was, it any feel kind of bad that I haven't really taken him out to play but he was happy now and that's all that matters.I sat on a bench while Roman went to play with King, my mind decided to just off and to think about Romans parents and mine meeting. Just the thought of it made me unsettled because it didn't seem like a good idea but my mother was pretty adamant about it. Something about it and just anticipating it makes me feel like I have a pit in my stomach. I shook the thought from my head and focused on a tired out puppy and an exhausted Roman. "We should head back." I announced since they were practically laying on the grass about to fall asleep.
"Roman get off the floor a dog could've peed there!"
"But it's comfortable and look King is laying on the floor." He said, gesturing to a sleeping King making me give him a look. "Fine! I have somewhere to be anyways." He huffed, exaggeratedly causing me to furrow my eyebrows.
"Where are you going? You didn't tell me anything."
He picked up King and started to walk towards me. "I have plans with James that I just remembered." I just nodded, not saying anything because I didn't want to seem like on of those clingy and controlling partners even though deep down it kind of bothered me that he didn't tell me any kind of hint on where they were going. When we got home Roman showered and got dressed while I just sat on the bed with King, watching him.
"You look nice." I complimented him, softly when he came out of the bathroom in a slightly button down black blazer, blue jeans and black shoes. He looked back at me and smiled.
"Thanks mi amore." He looked back at the mirror and fixed his wet hair. Once he was finished he walked over to me and gave me a kiss on my forehead before kissing me on the lips. The kiss was soft and nothing rushed. Sweet more like. He ruffled King's head then said "I'll be back around ten." With that he left. I honestly didn't know what to do so I just decided to go hangout with Maxie for a while. I got up from the bed, leaving King to sleep and headed down the hall. When I got to his door I knocked on it softly. "Maxie, you in there?" seconds later the door opens revealing him in his school uniform. It was a little funny seeing Maxie all proper looking since he's nothing like that at home. "Roman left so I wanted to hangout with you, if you don't mind." I tell him, he just stared at me for a bit before nodding.
