MIREN'S POV
I lead Kilo to a car parked just outside the station and open one of the doors in the back for him before taking the driver's seat. Kilo sets Castyr in the car and takes the seat by the door before bringing the star to rest against him.
"So Devyn said that you two are going to stay low on Mythos for a while," I say as I start the car and join the traffic in the street. When there is no response, I look towards the back through the overhead mirror to see Kilo making sure Castyr is comfortable. Cute.
Noticing the dark circles under Kilo's eyes and that his face is still extremely pale, I rummage through the glove box when we come to a momentary stop and pull out a revitalizing drink. "Here," I reach my arm to the back and give the drink to Kilo who accepts it. "It'll help you get your nutrients and energy back." I do not know how Kilo became so weak, but I do not press as he just got Castyr back after watching the star die in front of him.
Devyn told me most of what happened, but we do not know what exactly happened in Heaven when Kilo went to get Castyr. All we know is that Kilo is now wanted by the Heavens for stealing a star. But I do not really need to know. Devyn asked me to get them to Mythos, and so I will.
"How are you feeling?" I glance back at the angel through the mirror to check on him. Kilo looks up to meet my eyes and nods to let me know he is feeling better. I let out a small breath of relief before changing lanes and turning left towards Viant.
KILO'S POV
Miren takes us to the back of the tower and up the elevator to floor 34. "Get some rest and build up your energy. We will leave in six hours," the human says as she unlocks door 3412. I nod in acknowledgment as I carry Castyr into the room. "I'll have food and fresh clothes brought up to you."
"Thank you...Miren," I thank quietly. Miren nods and smiles softly before setting the key card on a nearby table and closing the door behind her.
After the door clicks shut, I carry Castyr to the bed and gently lay him down. I take off his bucket hat and slip the mask off from behind his ears. Castyr looks so small before me. I remove my cap and mask, get on the bed, and take him into my arms. Suddenly, he is the little boy who would lie in the garden and dream about the world. But I feel his muscular form in my arms and see his face and remember the battles and challenges he has been through to become who he is now: the star who gave his all to protect the ones he loves, to protect the universe.
The sounds of Castyr's breathing becoming strained and the tensing of his body bring tears to my eyes as I watch the electric light surge across his body again. This time, the lines are thicker and faster. Castyr begins to groan and move restlessly. I take Castyr's hand as he clenches from the pain and immediately cover him in my energy.
A tear falls on the star's head as I hold him tightly. "Castyr, please...hang in there."
MIREN'S POV
"Kilo?" I knock on the door for the nth time. "Kilo???" I begin to panic as no response comes. Setting down the food and clothes, I take out the master key and open the door before rushing inside.
"Kilo!" I hurry to the bed to see Kilo and Castyr lying side by side, Kilo's hand lying limply beside Castyr's.
A faint glow covers both of them, but if you were not looking for anything of the sort, you would not have noticed it. "Kilo!" I shake the angel's arm but to no avail. Scrambling on the bed, I rest Kilo's head in my lap. "Kilo?" I pat his face. Finally, his purple eyes open slightly.
