Katie

Much later I was in the kitchen cleaning down the grill. The party had been a huge success, Sophie had been so gratful for all the work i'd done and she'd had a wonderful time. There was a lot of cake left over but she said she didn't care and took it home happily, leaving some for me and my family to have when I got home. The amont of presents she had recieved was astronomical, they had barely fit in the car.

It was just me and Chris left now and even though I was glad of the time with him, I wasn't feeling great.

"Katie," I heard Chris call from out the front, I finished off cleaning the grill and headed out to help him.

"Where exactly am I mean't to put all this rubbish?" He asked when he saw me.

"Oh there are some bins out back, its easier if you take them out the back door, the code is 4488." I told him knowing he didn't remember.

"Thanks."

We cleaned the place quickly and quitly. We hardly talked at all and eveything was put away and clean within an hour.

"I know you've had a long day but do you want to go roller skating?" Chris asked me.

I wasn't feeling 100% but I knew that if I said no I would regret it.

"Sure why not."

I grabbed us some skates and we headed to the rink. Chris has turned the radio on so we had some music. I managed to get my skates on and was skating around by the time he had walked back.

"Hey you started without me."

"Uhuh." I smiled.

A few minutes later I was still alone, I spun around and stopped in front of him. Smiling.

"Why do I get the feeling you are finding this funny?"

He was right because he'd done just this last year, he couldn't skate and i'd had to teach him, I realised about 30 seconds ago that he of course would have forgotton again.

"It is funny." I told him laughing.

"Are you going to help a man out?" He asked looking at me with puppy dog eyes.

"Sure," I took his hand in mine and he linked our fingers as I pulled him up.

I tried to help him one handed for a bit but he was too off balence so I skate backwards holding both his hands while he practiced.

"I think I'm getting this hang of this, look" he said letting go of me.

He wobbled for a bit and then fell over.

"Maybe not." he laughed.

He told me to skate around for abit by myself and he had a little go by himself. He was doing quite well until I snuck up on him and scared him, he grabbed onto me and we fell over together. Faces inches apart I could tell he was going to kiss me. I scrambled up scared that even after he kissed me he wouldn't remember me.

"I'm sorry Chris, I can't" I skated away and after putting my skates away I headed home, tears running down my face.
