Katie

A few days later I was back at work, it was Tuesday and even though Chris wasn't roastered on until later in the week I still hoped to see him. It was hard to see him knowing he didn't remember me but it was harder not seeing him and wondering what he was thinking and feeling. I didn't want to stay forgotton and if being his friend was what he needed then I would deal with that for now, I would be his friend and hope that maybe one day he would love me again, after all what else did I have.

I was just cleaning down the tables when I heard his voice.

"- I can't believe you guys don't come in here more often its great, Katie showed me around, there's rollerskating, bowling and arcade games."

"Chris sweetie we know," I heard Tiffany say.

I span around instantly at her voice and only spotted her after i'd scanned the group twice, i'd been so preocupied by Chris himself that i'd missed what was hanging of his arm; Tiffany.

"Kate, Hey," Chris said waving at me.

"Hey," I smiled back.

"We are here for a game of bowling."

"Reluctantly," Brett added.

"It will be fun, I promise." Chris assured them.

"How about, seen as it's not busy I give you all a game on the house and then if you enjoy yourself you can pay for the next game." I suggested knowing they wouldn't stay for a second game but trying to help Chris out with whatever he was doing.

"Deal." Brett agreed.

"Right well follow me." I turned and walked towards the counter where we had the bowling shoes. Chris left his friends and caught up with me.

"Thanks for doing this Kate, you should come join us on your break."

"Oh, Erm I can't I've got a few errands to run but thanks for the offer."

In truth I had to pick up the present me and Chris had ordered Sophie for her birthday, the store had called me that morning to say it was finally in. I had to sort out the cake and pick up the personilzed invites me and Chris had also made months earlier, then some how I had to figure out how to get the super secret guest list of Chris's laptop so I could actually send the invites out.

"Oh that sucks, well let me intorduce you to someone anyway."

I smiled at him because I of course knew who everyone was, infact I knew all their shoe sizes but the fact that I hadn't asked one of them what size shoes they needed didnt seem to acure to Chris.

"This is Tiffany, my girlfriend, well so im told." he laughed.

My mouth hit the floor and I know I made a nosie of sorts because Chris looked at me funny and Tiffany just laughed. This was a new evil for her. I felt sick.

Me and Tiffany had butted heads on the first day of year 12; literally, it was a total accident and she never forgave me for it. Then I'd made it worse later in the day by getting the prize in a silly game the sixth formers had to to play. It was just mean't to be about getting to know everyone but it had really pissed her off. She seemed to hate me from then on. Always making nasty comments towards what I was wearing or on how my hair looked. She grew to hate me even more once Cassy and me became friends, and somehow my unpopularness never dragged Cassy down and I was glad of that because she was such a lovely person it would have been a shame to lose her as a friend or to have her lose friends because of me. Tiffany had started to like Chris by then aswell but he had grown out of his crush a year or so earlier apprantley after actually meeting Tiffany and getting to know her he had decided that she really wasn't for him. When I started working with him and we became friends I woundered if she was actually going to plan to have me killed. She would hate it if he said hello to me in the corridoor and she took to spreading rumors about me around school as though to try and put him off me. I couldn't believe she would stoop this low.

"I know it's a bit of a shock but well we didn't want to tell anyone before but now Chris has had his accident we think it's best people know." Tiffany told me.

I couldn't speak, I felt my heart crumbling to peices inside my chest.

"Your girlfirend?" I turned to Chris, my voice barely a whisper but still breaking.

"Uhuh," He smilied happily.

Chris said goodbye and went to join his friends while Tiffany promised to join him in a minute.

"You're lieing to him." I told her once Chris was out of earshot, I was so close to punching her it was unreal and I wasn't even a violent person.

"Is that a question or a statement?" She asked, and I could tell she was trying to catch me out, she wanted me to tell her the truth, she always had because Chris had refused to go out with her the year before, before we had even got together and he had just politly declined and I think it was a shock to her because everyone knew Chris had had the biggest crush on her in secondary school.

"A question of course," I smiled putting my mask back on, she wouldn't get the better of me.

"Maybe I am, but he will learn to love me Katie."

"And if his memory comes back?" I asked.

"IF and it's a big IF, he will already love me so he won't care that I lied."

"I feel sorry for you Tiffany, the only way you can get a man is to lie to them."

"At least I have a man, what have you got?" she snarled turning away.

I had to agree with her, what did I have, nothing. I turned around and headed for the toilets, I needed to have a good cry before I faced them all again.
