(This is probably my favorite chapter thus far xoxo)
"Uh..shit..yea..sorry...", I said, trying to pick up whatever decorative thing I knocked over which was now in a pieces. He flashed a smile and stood up from the chair he was sitting in. He then took his hands out of his tight, black jeans and helped me pick up the remaining pieces. We both held the broken pieces in our hands and I awkwardly put mine back onto the table. I looked down at my boots then back at him and he laughed.
"Are you sure you're alright?" he asked again.
"Yea...sorry, I didn't think anyone was out here. I just...needed some air."
"Yes. I like the quiet sometimes too." We stood in a very awkward silence for a few seconds then he reached across the space between us and grabbed something that was around my neck. I felt an instant longing to grab his hand just to touch him but I stopped myself. Sure, he was attractive but he was Harry Styles and I was...well no one compared to him.
"Rowan?"
My name felt like honey dripping from his mouth and I melted a bit. Wait...how did he know my name? I looked down and was instantly mortified. Marc and George had taken photos of all the interns on the first day and I looked like I fought my comb and lost. Sure, my dirty blonde hair was long and one of my best features but actually doing it was an everyday struggle. I pulled the lanyard off my head and shoved it in my back pocket.
"Uh, yea...I didn't know they were taking pictures that day or I would have done something with my hair...", I said, trailing off. He started laughing again and I noticed his dark gray shirt was only buttoned to his mid chest and I could see his tattoos peeking out with a few layered necklaces. He also smelled faintly of firewood and a sweet smell I couldn't place. It was an odd mixture but it fit him perfectly.
"No, no, you look...wild but like you don't care or like you have more important things to do then your hair", he said. I was taken aback. I wasn't sure what to say because no one really said much to me about well me, especially a boy, especially someone like him. I never thought I needed it and I didn't want him to stop. I met his gaze and instantly felt heat in my stomach shooting through my legs to my toes. I am not sure how long I looked or stared at him but just then the patio door slide open and Marc stepped outside. I instantly stepped back from Harry. I didn't realize I was standing and leaning into him. I felt the blood rush into my face and I turned away from my boss and Harry.
"Come inside Harry, I don't want to take too much of your time that I haven't wasted already getting here", Marc said. Harry smiled at me before stepping past Marc and going inside.
"What do you think you're doing?" Marc asked me. I instantly froze. I was about to be fired from a nonpaying job.
"Uh, I just needed air, I swear. He was just out here. I didn't even say anything to him, honestly", I pleaded with him.
"Listen, this is your job and if you're lucky your real job after school. We keep it professional even when the client hits on us. Even if they are as adorable as Mr. Styles", he said with a smile. I relaxed and walked back inside. Wait...did Marc say hit on? I wasn't getting hit on? Was I?
