The next morning you're in a bad mood after not sleeping. You tossed and turned all night and when you did sleep you dreamed about Bucky. The man was too delicious. His holding you yesterday while asking you out had your libido running wild.
You see Tony as you walk toward your office. "Mr. Stark. Good morning." You force a smile.
Tony gives you an annoyed look. "Y/N, where were you?"
You're confused and a little annoyed at his tone because you're not late. "When? It's only a little after 7 am. I'm just getting here for the morning."
Tony looks at you perplexed. "Wait, you're just getting here. I thought you moved into the compound weeks ago."
"No, Mr. Stark. I don't live here." You chuckle at his obliviousness and wonder how he survived without an assistant.
"Well, we should fix that." Tony looks at his phone. "When I need you, you should be here."
You sigh, getting more annoyed and definitely not willing to give up your independence. "Mr. Stark if you would like me to have a room that I can use if there is a reason I need to stay late, that's fine. But I don't see a reason to move in."
Tony gives you an incredulous look "We'll see. Let's go, I need you to sit in on our meeting. You'll be running communication and logistics from here while we're on our mission."
"Of course, Mr. Stark. I'll put my stuff down and be right in."
You're looking down at your tablet going through some of the emails that will need to be answered today. When you hear a deep voice that makes your stomach summer sault.
"Y/N, great to see you again."
Your face gets red and you look up in the direction of the voice. You can't meet his eyes because in your mind all you can see is the memory of the last time you saw him. "Director Fury, it's lovely to see you again." You barely get the words out passed the lump in your throat.
During the meeting, you make notes of everything that needs to be done. You're getting incredibly uncomfortable. Fury keeps giving you a weird look, probably about why you won't look at him, which is going to be a bitch to explain. Steve is also staring at you and hasn't taken his eyes off you, it's starting to make you nervous. Once the meeting is done you stand up.
"Mr. Stark I'll be in my office if you need me." You're already rushing out the door without his response.
Tony is engrossed with reviewing specs of stuff with Nat and Fury. He absently calls out "Sure, see you later."
You rush into your office and close the door. The meeting had taken a real toll on your nerves. You took a few steadying breaths before you tried to focus on work. You had just started to respond to an email when you hear a knock at the door.
Afraid that Fury had come to corner you because you were not ready for that conversation, you hesitantly call out. "Come in." You're only slightly relieved when you look up and see Steve standing there.
You give him a half smile "Captain Rogers, how can I help you?" He walks around your desk to stand over you, which makes you incredibly nervous. You stand up to try and push him back from you but he doesn't give an inch.
"You can tell me what you're hiding? You can't even look Fury in the eye. What is that about?" He growls. "The others might not have noticed but I did."
Your thoughts race. Why was he so perceptive! You start blushing but know there is no way you're telling that story to Steve. "It's nothing." Trying to get away from his domineering physical presence, you start to walk past him.
"Nothing, really? Then why are you blushing and why couldn't you look at him?" He grabs your arm in a bruising grip and pushes you back until you're up against the wall, causing your shoulder to painfully hit the wall.
"Ow! Captain Rogers, what're you doing?" You struggle trying to pull out of his grip.
Steve leans down his face inches from yours. "You'll tell me what is going on, right now!"
You notice he keeps looking at your lips, which you're finding distracting. If he weren't so angry you'd almost think he was getting ready to kiss you. You're having trouble thinking. "C..captain Rogers there's nothing...nothing going on.
He pulls your arm roughly up over your head and leans into you pushing his body against you. "Y/N tell me, now. What is going on with Fury!"
"Captain Rogers, please... you're hurting me."
Just then you hear an angry noise from across the room. "Hey, whoa! Steve, back off." You turn your head and see Bucky running across the room toward you. He grabs Steve by the back of the neck and pulls him off you. "What the hell dude!? Get out of here!"
Steve glares at you for another second before he storms out of the room. You're completely shocked at what just occurred. Bucky takes your hand and guides you back to your chair. He's rubbing your wrist in a circular pattern.
"Y/N, are you ok?"
You feel shaken and slightly dazed about what just happened. "Y..yea. I.. I'm good." You start breathing heavier and you can feel tears swimming in your eyes. You take three deep breaths and straighten your shoulders letting your professional mask slip back in place. You don't want Bucky to see how upset you are, so you try to get rid of him. "Thank you Sgt. Barnes, I'm fine now. I'm going to finish up here and be down to assist Mr. Stark in a few minutes."
Bucky looks like he doesn't quite believe you but doesn't want to push you either. "Ok then. If you need anything, please come find me." Bucky gives you one last unreadable look before he leaves.
