Part 6

The next two days were incredibly busy. Tony taught you how to use the comms and an armed drone. He wanted to have "air support", as he called it, just in case. He trained you until you could operate it without his assistance.

The Avengers were in the middle of their mission and with you easily running communications from the compound and watching live satellite images to help with information on Hydra's movements.

Nat's voice comes over the comms. "Sam's been hit. He's losing a lot of blood. I need to get him to the jet."

"Do it. Let me know if you need any help. Cap, there's 4 on your left. Barnes, where are you with that download?" Tony clips out.

"I'm in. Getting the information now." Bucky's voice in your ear piece sends shivers down your spine. You can tell he plugged in the flash drive because the status bar popped up on your monitor.

"It's uploading now. 25% complete." You report to them, giving them a count down to get out.

Suddenly, movement on the second monitor catches your eye. "Captain Rogers you have a large amount of enemy movement coming at you on your right. You need to get out of there!"

Steve doesn't listen and keeps fighting where he is. You shake your head while you give another update. "Download 75% complete." You keep an eye on Steve and see that the Hydra soldiers have worked to get him farther away from the team and they are swarming him. He was surrounded and starting to look overwhelmed. You engaged the drone from the jet and sent it in his direction.

"Download 95% complete. I've activated the drone, it's in the sky and coming toward you. Tony, don't take it out." You don't want Tony to blow the drone out of the sky before you can reach Steve.

"Y/N what are you doing?" Tony questions, unsure why you'd be getting involved.

"I'm doing what you trained me to do Mr. Stark. Now, Captain Rogers, get to the tree on your left, directly behind you. I'll count you down from 5 and take cover on my mark."

"Y/N what are you doing?!" Steve shouts as he lands a punch and then gets hit by another soldier.

"I'm saving your ass, in 5...4"

"What? How could you save my ass?!"

" Steve, Don't make me miss the shot! Just do it! ...3...2...1... Mark!" Thankfully, Steve listened and did what you asked. You fire the explosives from the drone and watch them land their mark just behind the soldiers. All but 3 had stopped moving.

"Captain Rogers, you should be able to get back to the others easily now. Download is complete and I'm starting the jet engines for fast take off." You sigh in relief that you were able to help but don't fully relax as they're not back on the jet yet.

"Good thinking Y/N. All right everyone to the jet, clear out." Tony calls out to the team.

You watch the team file into the jet and dock the drone. Mr. Stark if you're all set, I'm going to go off comms."

"We're good. We'll be home in a few hours." Tony signs off and you lean back in the chair. You're tired but there is still a lot to do. Just before you take the comm out of your ear you hear your name.

"Y/N, you still there?" 

"Yea Bucky, I'm still here." His voice was smooth like velvet sliding down your body giving you goosebumps.

"It's late, you're not thinking of going home tonight, right?"

"No, it's too late to go home. I was going to fix you guys something to eat for when you guys get back, any requests?."

"Good, I don't like the thought of you being out by yourself that late. I don't have any requests that are food related." He was talking low, so the others couldn't hear him but his soft low voice was so distracting you didn't realize what he said at first.

"Bucky....." You start to say.

He chuckles and it's low and sexy. "Y/N, I'll see you when we get back."

"Bye Bucky." You remove the earpiece out and take a deep breath. It had been a long time since you let a man get close. Bucky was chipping away slowly at those walls with every sweet word and kind gesture. It also didn't help that he was a prime specimen of a man and you felt the need for a cold shower after only hearing his voice in your ear.
