Just another blissful day, the Alenorians thought, carrying about their business per usual. It was in the late half of the morning when the loud obnoxious noise came bellowing out from the sea. The clouds began darkening above them when the great monstrosity came rising out of the waters. The guards that were assigned to the city's entrance didn't bother staying at their post, they retreated just before the one eyed giant came storming through the large gate, knocking it down to the ground. A massive panic ensued in the streets, with most people running to their homes while a handful remained behind to pack up their belongings.
The ground shook with each step he took. He stood at a hundred feet tall, wearing short armoured pants with nothing covering the upper half of his body. Large stretch marks showed around his belly with the appearance of tiny rivers. On his head were dark green veins covering his bald head.
"Where is the Son of Hades?" the great giant shouted three times, nearing the heart of the city, his voice deep and loud.
After a few minutes had gone by the soldiers of Alenore appeared with King Silas standing at the front lines. They stood at a distance away from the creature trying their best to not enrage it any further. The King stood silently, profiling the monster's appearance. He saw large orange eyes looking down at him and his men. Large yellow crooked teeth showed from his mouth with no intent. In his left hand he carried a long thick tree log with branches and leaves still attached. Fear filled the soldiers heart when they saw him. There was no doubt it was their first time seeing something as eccentric as him.
"Who are you?" the King asked the creature, he was almost in awe of the monstrous being.
"My name is Polyphemus," he answered. "Give me the son of Hades and no harm will come to you and your people."
"I would, if only I knew who that was?"
"Lies, all lies," the giant cried. "You humans shall all die."
When Polyphemus had done talking, he started running towards the army, screaming in a fit of rage. With his log he was striking down those that stood before him, and anyone who had stood in his path was crushed like minced meat beneath his feat. The King was amongst the first batch of men to have gotten hit, and was tossed aside toward the edge of a building. He hits his head almost immediately when he fell, blood began leaking down from his forehead as he laid there on the ground unconscious. Rain started falling, causing the blood of the slain men to be heaped into shallow pools. A few of his men circled around him, trying their best to escort him safely back to his castle. Nearly a quarter of his army had fallen. Three quarters still stood and were defending themselves. The army steps back away from the creature observing what he intends to do next.
"My fight is not with you stunted beings," the giant shouted, almost in exhaust. "It is with the son of Hades."
Mackenzie appeared amongst the men, watching as the army began walking backward every chance they got. He could see the fears in their eyes. He then turned to face the giant, slightly impressed. "So you're the ugly unlucky fucker they've sent to murder me," when he spoke the army didn't know weather to laugh or remain quiet. "What did the Gods tell you Cyclops?"
"My father said enough." the giant confessed.
"You must be Polyphemus, son of Poseidon."
"Yes, and I'm here to finish what many before me couldn't."
"Before we start dancing, tell me this. Did your father run out of women, that he had to lie down with your beast of a mother."
When Polyphemus heard Mackenzie's remarks he swung his hand toward him, hitting him across the street. Mackenzie was slammed against one of the building's wall, falling flat on his stomach.
"I need to work on my jokes," he groaned, while struggling to catch his breath. When Mackenzie had gotten back on his feet, he heard a whisper in his ear. "Kill him," the voice said.
"You're weak," said Polyphemus, laughing at him. "You're no demi-God. You're a disgrace."
Mackenzie ran towards the giant, sliding between it's legs, kicking the creature on his right foot until it fell on it's back. Mackenzie got on top of him, punching the beastly being on the face. Polyphemus then grabs Mackenzie by his foot, swinging him onto another building. The wall of the building broke and Mackenzie went straight through it.
The Cyclops was back on his feet again, walking towards the building. He smashes the wall to enter, scaring the people who live there to flee screaming and crying. Mackenzie was still lying on the ground, listening to the monstrous footsteps that came nearer and nearer. When Polyphemus had reached to where Mackenzie was lying, he watched in admiration as he struggled to stand back up.
"Perhaps you might be a demi-God after all."
Not even three seconds long did he stood before falling back down. But this time he was on his back coughing and holding his ribs. Polyphemus knelt over him and began punching his face. While he was taking a few blows to the head, he ceased the Cyclops hand from striking for the thirteenth time. He hits Polyphemus in the jaw with his right hand and the giant stood stunned for only a moment, then he fell to the side of Mackenzie. The son of Hades took his time once again, getting back up. He groaned as he tried standing straight. He took the Cyclops by his feet dragging him out into the open.
The soldiers of Alenore were cheering on in disbelief and shock while Polyphemus remained weary. The giant tried getting up but was too weak to move. He got to his knees, bleeding from his mouth and nose. He stared at Mackenzie's swollen face and bloody mouth, watching as he drew his sword.
"Kill him now," Mackenzie heard the voice again. He pointed the sharpened blade at the monster's throat but refused to shed more blood. He sheathed back his blade, stretching his hand in alliance. Every Alenorian soldier stood confused and shock at the manner in which Mackenzie was proposing, even Polyphemus himself was at a loss for words.
"I am not your enemy," Mackenzie told him. "The Gods are misguided and they'll cause you and many others to fall before they realize they were wrong about me and the prophecy. Return to your home in Giantstown and never return. If you do, I promise to send my sword straight through your heart."
Polyphemus had gotten back on his two feet, staring into Mackenzie's eyes as he struggled to find balance. "You are not at all what they set you out to be. You have shown me great courage, Son of Hades. Forgive me for my actions."
"It's no fault of yours." Mackenzie replied. "You were misinformed is all."
"If there comes a time and you need my help, ask it and it's yours."
"I will," said Mackenzie. He then watched as Polyphemus leaves the city and was heading back into the ocean.
