The weeks leading up to this morning were filled with long tiring tasks that prepared the way for this morning's festivity. It was unlike any other mornings before it, this morning in particular would be the one that changes William's life forever. It was the day that he'd officially be crowned, the King of Valgorn. The entire city were out celebrating his Kingship, drinking free wine and ale the King permitted from his storehouse.
Dozens of Lords and Ladies were in attendance, whom he'd never heard of before, dining in his great hall amongst a handful of citizens chosen from the streets to bask in the splendor of His Majesty. They all stood and watched as William took his seat in a large golden chair, waiting for Theoden to do his part.
"Today you are each called to bear witness on this momentous occasion," Lord Theoden spoke aloud, his voice echoing in the hall. "To bring about a new dawn for this city and its inhabitants. An Age of glory and splendor that no other city before us can achieve. With this, I proclaim William, Son of Balthazar and Elia, the new King of Valgorn."
When he was done speaking, he held the rounded gold crown in the air for all to gaze upon it's beauty. Gemstones of: red, blue, purple, and green all sat firmly around the centre of the crown, mesmerizing all those that were staring at her. Theoden proceeded to take his time as he began placing the crown upon William's head. The moment it arrived on his head, laughter and cheers began to fill the room. One by one they came with gifts of all sorts, both small and large, pledging their allegiance to him and his house.
Afterward, everyone began gathering around the feasting table. They began filling their bellies with food they had never tasted before. Platters of snail, crab and herring were ignored by the common folks. They swallowed peppered shrimp, roast chicken with onion sauce. Along with sweet and sour lamb with grated garlic, spread all around.
Musicians sang songs about women and their hard earned love, while the people danced to their tunes. There were fools all around them telling jokes to make the guest laugh. There were even men hired to blow fire out from their mouths and nose. There were even some telling stories of Dragons and Ghouls among other terrifying creatures.
William left them there drinking themselves to a merry heart. He grabbed with him a platter filled with just a little bit of everything. He then took with him a jug of wine, hurrying out the hall to reach his chambers. When he entered in, he looks over to his bed to see Amara lying there awaiting his company.
He kept smiling with his gaze fixed on her as he approached her. He places the platter upon the bed, taking a seat beside her. "I wished you could've been there, sitting beside me."
"Today is your day not mine," she replied. "If people saw us together they'll think I'm your concubine and they won't take you serious anymore."
"Women are only concubines if they're with a married King," he said, laughing. "When I marry whenever that is, I promise to never make you my concubine. You'll be known to everyone as my wife."
"You're still a sweet talker, Your Grace, " she laughed. She sat up and began wrapping her hands around his neck. "I love you," she then said, right before kissing him gently on his lips.
"Promise me something, Amara."
"What is it?" she asked.
"Promise me we'll grow old together."
"If I manage to live to be old and grey then I'd rather no one else to spend my life with."
"One day I hope you'll be the mother of my children."
Amara kisses his hands while she stared into his brown lonely eyes. She looked at him, and knew that he meant every word he spoke. "I hope so to."
When it came evening, he found himself in the Kings Tomb, looking down on the statue of his father's image that were carved upon the lid of the sarcophagus. An appearance of an elderly man with long curled up beard and long wavy hair showed. William spat upon the lid, hitting the right cheek of the statue.
"It sickens me to know that it is your blood that flows through my veins," he whispered. "You were a horrible King and a lousy father. I will never be like you. I'll be the King my people needs, not the one you were, that kills little babes."
"I'm sorry to disturb you, Your Grace," said Theoden as he approached him. "Should I come back?"
"No," William answered, wiping away his tears. "What is it?" he asked.
"There's someone here to see you. He said his name is Mackenzie." William stared at Theoden, almost frozen where he stood. He said nothing back, then suddenly a smile came upon his face.
