Night Changes

CHAPTER 20

   I woke up to the sound of my phone buzzing. I tried to take it, but my body won't budge.

My head ached and I felt like throwing up. It took me a few moments to realise I was at my home, it was eight in the morning and my phone kept buzzing. I felt miserable.

I picked up the phone.

"WHAT THE HELL WAS JASPRIT DOING WITH YOU,"

Shreyas screamed from the other end and I was confused as hell. But then, all the events of yesterday started occurring to me.

Including the kiss.

A wave of emotions washed me. The memory of our moment gave me goosebumps.

As a matter of surprise, I didn't regret it one bit. I wanted to go back and do this all over again.

I remembered Jassi's face when I praised him. He was so dazed, and then..the look in his eyes when he said I was amazing...

My heart ached for him. I wanted to see him, right now. Give him a tight hug and pull him into a long kiss. Look him into the eyes and tell him how precious he was. As wrong as it felt, I wanted to be with him.

But for now-

Oh no. What did Shreyas find out?

"Why are you screaming,  Shrey? What happened?"
I asked.

"WHAT HAPPENED? YOU ASK ME WHAT HAPPENED? YOU  were the one who ditched me in the middle of our date, didn't call me back ONCE, and when I called, Jasprit picked!"
I felt dumbstruck.

Oh no.

Jasprit must have stayed for some time here and picked the call for me. I only remember till the time we kissed, and then- maybe I fell asleep.

I wondered how he felt, I literally drunk kissed him!

But what am I supposed to tell Shreyas? That I was drunk and Jasprit helped me? That I kissed him? And nothing more happened? Will he understand? I knew we'll just start fighting again if I told him the truth.

"You AREN'T ANSWERING? What was Jasprit doing with you at nine at night? You left the date to meet him? Really? Are you cheating on me?"

"I'm NOT, Shreyas. I swear. I left the lunch because it was an emergency. And I felt..sick so Jasprit drove me home. I told him to pick it up when I saw you were calling because I didn't have the energy,"

He let out a creepy laugh.

"You think I believe you? You're lying through your teeth, Aly. I called you with my brother's phone last night because my one was dead, so there's no way you knew I was calling,"

Shit. I was caught red handed.

"I guessed, Shreyas. It must've been you, because of our date,"

"Oh really? What was the emergency, though? The emergency that made you meet with Jasprit?"

"It was Ritz's family matter and he's Rohit's best friend so he was there,"

"And he just drove you home? He didn't enter the flat?"

I gulped. So many lies!

"No, he didn't. He dropped me at the gate and I helped myself. I was really sick, and I still am,"

That was true. My head was about to burst.

He seemed to calm down. I don't know if he bought it or not, but he had nothing to say other than that. I answered everything.
