Night Changes

CHAPTER 28

  "Congratulations, our first sober kiss," Jassi winked and I laughed.

"Yes, indeed. So are we official?" I raised my eyebrows.

"Hell yeah," and he pressed our foreheads together.

Suddenly we saw Ritz and Rohit approaching in our direction.

"Love birds! Tell me you guys patched up..please!" Ritz exclaimed.

"Yes, Ritika, we did," Jassi smiled.

"Yay! This is such a happy day, guys! We should celebrate once Jassi's mum gets better,"

"Of course we will. How about...a double date?" Rohit proposed and we shared a good laugh.

I was so happy after so long, I wished I could cage this moment.

"Actually, I think you guys should come to our home for some time. Now that Ro and me and both of you are all good, we could chit chat and have lunch together. We can't meet aunty now anyway, and Jassi could get some rest as well, "

"Sounds good to me, I'm in dire need of some refreshment," Jassi agreed.

We went downstair towards our car when Jassi stopped us.

"Guys, I need to go home for a while, I'll meet you guys there,"

We reached Ritz's home and I played with Sam for a while. She was growing fast, she could already sit and say a few words.

After an hour or so, the door rang.
I went to get it and as I opened, Jassi stood, wearing the black T Shirt I gifted him with "YOU KNOW WHAT ROCKS? MY SMILE" printed on it. He carried a bouquet of flowers and of course, the smile I was a fan of.

"Aly did you get the door? Who's there-  Jassi? C'mon in, I've made your favorite pancakes.."

Jassi came inside and all of us sat for lunch. We all kept gossiping for about God knows how much time.

This was so beautiful, so good. I had Jassi by my side. My best friend Ritz was sitting right before me, laughing and giggling with her husband. Sam sat with us, laughing hard at things she had no idea of.

I felt out of the world.

Per-fect.

But then...
Everything beautiful gets ruined eventually.

Post lunch, Jassi went to take a shower and get some sleep and Rohit went with Sam to get some rest as well. Me and Ritz sat there, talking about all the hot gossips in town.

Ritz checked her phone for a minute and suddenly, she froze.

"A- Aly? Had you..did you break up with Shreyas? "

"Ugh..not yet. I have to talk to him..I'm cheating both of them at the moment, this is wrong- wait I'll call him right away-"

"Hey, wait. Does Jassi know about Shreyas?"

"No, but that isn't necessary. I'll tell him after we break up,"

"Aly..there's a blunder,"

And she showed me her phone.

Shreyas had posted on Instagram.

It was the picture of one of our dates, we were at a restaurant and I kept my head on his shoulder. 

He captioned:

"So are we official? "
"Hell yeah,"

His comment section was flooded with people congratulating us.

Bile formed in my throat and I felt nauseous. I had just mended my relationship with Jassi, what will he think if he sees this?

"Why..why did Shreyas do this, Aly?"

"I- I don't know.. no wait. His..his caption- Me and Jassi- we said this in the hospital today-"

"Oh no, Aly. Does that mean..shit! He asked you for the address last night- maybe he went these to verify if Jassi's mum was really sick, and he saw both of you, got furious and-"

"This is all my fault! I should've broken up with him on call! Now what do I do Ritz? What if Jassi sees this? Of course he will, it's on the internet.. Oh God.."

"Aly, it's not late yet. Call him, ask him to delete it. And tell Jassi the truth right away,"

I nodded and called Shreyas.

"WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO?"

"Why? What did I  do? I just announced our relationship on the internet, that's it!"

"How could you do this to me! You idiot! Moron! Dumbass! How could you leak this on the internet!"

"Really? You're telling ME?? What did I do, huh? I DIDN'T CHEAT ON MY PARTNER, DID I?"

"God..I'm SORRY! Yes-Yes I LOVE JASSI. It's TRUE. It might look like cheating to you but I swear I have been trying to break up with you but I didn't get the chance for once. I'm sorry you had to find out about it like this..but you could've asked me! Talked to me! I would've told you the truth! Why did you break the news on the net?? Please..delete it. Delete it right away-"

He hung up.

Ritz put her hands on my mouth and I couldn't control my tears.

Jassi.

I need to talk to him before he finds it out the wrong way.

I ran to his room but before I could knock he opened the door and came out.

In his hands was his phone, with a picture of me resting my head on Shreyas' shoulders.

"Tell me he's lying. Tell me this picture isn't true. Tell me it's fake- tell me!"

I kept sobbing.

"Is it...really true? Are you dating..Shreyas...You-"
He gulped.

"Tell me for once it's old, please! I promise I'll believe you, I won't question you for once,"

"I- I am- no, I mean I don't have anything to do with Shreyas anymore..I- I don't like him or-"

"Then what's with this picture? Why did he write you're in a relationship? Why are you sitting with him like that?"

"I- I can explain, jassi. It's just-"

"I don't want an explanation, I want a one-word answer. Did you ever have a relation with Shreyas? If yes..are you still with him?"

I took in a sharp breathe. No point lying.

"Yes, I have a relation with him and I haven't broken up with him yet,"

His eyes moistened, color drained out from his face.

"You're with Shreyas..but you said you like me-"

"I do, Jassi. I swear I do- It's a bit complicated but please let me explain,"

He didn't.

He stormed out of the house.

I stood there, crying.

Tragedy :(

Do you think what Shreyas did was justified?

Should've Jassi listened to Aly?
