"How are you doing?"
I hadn't talked to Shreyas since the last 3 days. Apparently, none of us was ready to apologise. And I am definitely not gonna be the one to do that. I wasn't the one at fault! He talked like a maniac. Why would someone tell their family within one month of their relation? We still need to figure things out and see if it works for us.
"You there?"
Jasprit snapped me out of my chain of thoughts as he spoke from the other side of the phone.
"Yep. I'm fine,"
"Are you sure? You weren't fine the last day,"
I felt embarassed thinking about the fact that I completely broke drown before him. I felt vulnerable, weak- which I never am. I love to be confident and strong, even if it's an act. But I knew Jasprit wouldn't judge me, he would understand. That thought brought a wave of comfort with it. I felt so safe im his arms that day.
"I'm fine, Jasprit. Really. How are you, though?"
"As I always am,"
"You mean with your typical 'I-shine-like-a-sun' look?" I said with a grin.
"You're jealous of my smile? Really? I didn't know such a beautiful and successful girl like you can have insecurities," he said mischievously.
"I would take that as a compliment," I paused and added, "Thank you so much for being there that day. And caring to ask how am I. It means a lot,"
"Pleasure is mine. And if you ever need anything, tell me. I'll always be there for you,"
He paused and quickly added,
"I mean- I am always there for friends,"
"So.. I am your friend now?" I said as I raised an eyebrow and smiled.
"I..think so? I mean- we have been seeing each other- no, I mean meeting each other and I like your company- I mean-"
I laughed loudly.
"What?"
"It's okay, Jasprit. No need to be confused. Yes,I like your company as well and I think you could be a good friend, considering the fact that you promised to be there for me," I said with a smile.
"Cool then. It was nice befriending you, miss," I could hear him smile.
Just then my phone screamed: 'Ritz calling'
"Same to you JJSB," I winked. Not that he would see that.
"You know I hate my middle name, don't you?"
"That's why, I love to call you that," I winked again.
"Whatever. Wait till I find a name for you as well,"
Ritz was calling again.
"Hey, I'll talk to you later. Ritz is calling,"
"Sure. Catch you later,"
"Bye-bye, friend," I grinned and hung up.
"WHO THE HELL WERE YOU TALKING TO, HUH? WHY WEREN'T YOU PICKING UP MY CALLS? JUST BECAUSE YOU GOT A NEW BOYFRIEND YOU CAN'T FORGET YOUR BESTFRIEND! I'M GONNA-"
She wanted to say something but I beat her to it.
"Relax, Ritz. I just didn't pick up your call twice. No need to overreact, okay? And I was talking to, err- Jasprit,"
Ritz became cranky a lot lately. I guess it was just the pressure of being a new mom.
"Oh I am so not overreacting, miss. You always hung up on others when I would be calling-"
