Night Changes

CHAPTER 34

  5 Months later

"Why did you put that blue balloon over there, Ro? Remove it! And.. where's Aly? She was supposed to bring the emoji balloons! God.. it's almost time for the party, people are going to arrive soon!"

Ritz paced back and forth the hall, hauling instructions to Rohit and me. Correction, I just returned from the store, so I wasn't on her line of fire yet. Now I just hope I bought everything properly, Ritz is really gonna eat me up if I don't.

Ritz turned around and saw me standing like a statue near the doorframe.

"Aly..what took you so long? Come quick and help us out, we are running out of time! I hope you bought everything properly?'

I hope so too, Ritz.

"Ehm..yes,I think so. Relax, Ritz. Why are you getting so hyped? Everything is under control, breathe, girl!"

She sighed.

"I know I'm freaking out, Aly. But what do I do? I really want my baby's first birthday party be a grand success," she pouted.

"Yes yes, it will be. Don't worry, Ritz. We will make it on time. Now see if there's everything from your list in here,"

We started checking the essentials when Ritz exclaimed on  the highest pitch my eardrums had the bad luck to hear and I spat into my glass of juice.

"Aly! DID YOU JUST FORGET THAT DAMN SNOW SPRAY? OH FOR GOD'S SAKE I REMINDED YOU TEN TIMES ABOUT THAT ONE, I KNEW YOU WERE GONNA FORGET IT!"

I scrunched my eyes shut. Shit, I knew I was gonna screw up.

"Relax, Ritz. We have it over here," thankfully, Rohit came to my rescue.

"Thank God! I really lost my shit there for a second. Wait is the cake here? Let me check.."

I sighed and worked on the balloons. Ritz was freaking out, but I can't blame her. I want my munchkin's first birthday party to be a blast as well.

A pair of arms draped around my waist and pulled me to a hard chest. I smiled at the familiar scent and turned around.

Those beautiful caramel eyes bore holes into my skull.

"You aren't ready yet, Aly?" Jassi smiled.

"Do you think Ritz is gonna excuse me this soon?" I rolled my eyes.

"She's really going crazy, isn't she?" He chuckled.

I nodded and gave him a peck on his lips. I removed his hands and tried to move away but he held me tightly in his grasp.

"Wait...you really think you're gonna get away with that?" He raised and eyebrow and pulled me closer.

He slowly pulled me into a gentle kiss but as we continued, it became all the more intense.

I thought subconsciously about my seemingly beautiful life. I had Jasprit with me. I had Ritz and Rohit. I had my Sam baby. My cricket was going on in full swing. It's all perfect.

I hope it doesn't get ruined though.

I pushed the ominous thought at the back of my head.

5 months. Just 5 months ago I was about to leave this land and settle to Yorkshire for an year. I was about to leave everything and everybody behind. But just at the nick of time, I was saved.

Jassi came to the rescue.

5 months ago, that day, I mean on my flight day, I was just one step away from my new life.

Well, something happened. Of course.

I stopped dead in my tracks when I heard "ALY,WAIT!"

I turned around quickly, and to my disappointment, it was just Rohit.

"Yes?"

"Take care, I'm sorry to stop you but its hard to let you go,"

I smiled sadly again. I had been doing that a lot today.

"Alas, I do have to go. See you in  year, Rohit. Stay well," I sighed and turned again.

"ALY, WAIT!"

I thought it was Rohit again, but I knew this voice too well.

I felt goosebumps all over my body as I slowly turned over.

There he was. Jassi, bending over with his palms clutching his knees, and panting heavily. He gave me a shaky smile.

"Surprise," Rohit said with a huge grin.

I stood there, not being able to move a muscle.

Jassi came towards me, slowly. In a shaky voice he told me,

"Hey girl. Sorry for all the shit I've caused. Can you just give me a chance? Will you give me the blessed opportunity to watch DARK with you everyday?"

I looked at him, my eyes threatening to pop out of my eye socket. So he was here. He forgave me. This is freaking unreal.

"So..you-you forgave me?" I asked, sounding so feeble, I couldn't recognise my own voice.

"Yes. Yes I do. That day, I was so hell bent on not forgiving you because..I..I really thought you betrayed me. But when I went to my mom, she asked me to give it a thought. And in a few days, I realised you were in a dilemma and things just took turns. Plus, I was so miserable without you. That's when Ro told me you were going and this was my last chance,"

I looked over to Rohit and gave him the most grateful smile I could muster.

"So that's it. I just took a decision and here I am. I want to forgive you and give us a chance. It's up to you now. Will you give me a chance?"

I nodded, not being able to form a full sentence.

That was it. That was the beginning of our journey. We have been together since 5 months. Dinner dates, movie nights, concerts and everything fun. Sometimes we joined Ritz and Ro, hitting it off pretty well.

"Go get a room guys!" Ro screamed and giggled.

"Fuck off," Jassi rolled his eyes and I chuckled.

"Now move your lazy asses over here, Ritz is gonna eat you up,"

Jassi sighed.

"We'll finish it later," he winked and ran fingers through his messy hair.

In this perfect life, I'm gonna have as much fun as I can.

Because you never know, when things go out of your way.

It's my birthday today. And I'm bored. Pfft.

Sorry for the filler chapter guys, but I'll try harder, promise ;)
